sound. I must agree with sanphran here guys... the sound is poor. Look for a missing bit at the end of BEW. Which is the best song on this night. Jerry sounds like he's throttling a turkey during Sugaree. Sorry to burst any bubbles...but these reviews should be informed right? 3.5 stars

real nice He's Gone. Around and Around never stops rockin. Most of the rest is average for 1977, and it's all very clean. There's nothing bad here, either. The Casey Jones encore is missing (no great loss...)

it was worthy of making sure I was at Red Rocks in 78 and subsequently coast to coast for more years than one should readily admit. Grateful to hear it again after all these years.

from any 77 show,how about the music never stopped???rocks the joint..please now.. but how can you not really enjoy the second set..scarlet -fire..the

he's gone seamlessly into truckin..and even Donna's voice doesn't anoy ne..sound is great,phil bombs all throughout the show,,and why didn't i skip out on more school when there were shows like this being played...oh well..have it now and damned grateful..:)

that first set looks... like pretty much every other first set from 77 same can be said for second except for they jam the fuck out in on the second sets
...
which is awesome, 77 might be one of there best years playing wise but the setlists are downright repititve

favorite and the Estimated which is f*kng hot is alot like Buffalo and U of Oklahoma... There is alot to like with this so get to it and d/l. Sound is not that bad but I am listening less to the quality of the sound than that of the show and will only mention it if it is unbearable this is not the case here.

gets used to it, the effect gives a different, strange dimension to the otherwise smooth, soft tones of the Travis Bean era. (Once the Wolf returned, Garcia sounded more and more distorted (and loud), such that his '78 style became increasingly over the top and unsubtle for my taste...). This show has really grown on me as I investigate the '77 Fall Tour. Though it fits the pattern of other shows of this time--relatively short at about two and a half hours, rather repetitive set lists, precise, muscular playing with lots of Led Zeppelin-esque cresendos--this show has lots of variation and inner drama. Listen for a swirling Supplication, a BIG time Sugaree, a Scarlet-Fire which has real momentum and a flow of ideas, a spacey Estimated leading into a He's Gone with very pretty guitar before the first lyric. This is one of those Dead shows where interesting music is created sequentially such that by the end of the evening all the songs have built on each other and the listener is refreshed and exhilerated. The Dead did this so well in the spring of '77: maintaining their focus and creativity and expanding on it through a whole show. So...after getting to know this Denver show, one could have labled it "May something something '77" and I wouldn't have been in the least surprised.

a temporary resident there while working in a Denny's restaurant on Colorado Blvd. Although I attended a Frank Zappa, and a Crosby Stills Nash concert that same fall I was not able to get the night off to see the Grateful Dead and there I was in Denny's working my ass off as the swingshift dishwasher and wishing I was over at the McNichols Arena with my fellow Dead Heads. So, in honor of the nostalgia of that unfortunate circumstance I am finally taking the time to listen to what I missed that fateful night 28 years ago.

NOT poor quality
Not sure what the previous reviewer was listening to, it wasn't this show. There may be a little tape noise between songs but the sound quality is excellent!
...
The show is a three-star, pretty average quality for 1977 but the sound is a 4.5. I'm giving it a 5 rating in order to bump up the average rating so more folks will take a look. The music is LOUD and blasting like most fall '77 shows.
