Subject: THE WHEEL IS TURNING

A decent recording. Terrapin was great and I always love those early 80's Space melting into the Wheel. It's like landing in a peaceful meadow. :)

1. If this recording—which, admittedly, is nowhere near the best field recording of the GD you will find on Archive—is one of the worst you’ve listened to here, spend more time listening. There are untold dozens I’ve listened to—briefly—far worse than this. This isn’t even the worst field recording of THIS show.

2. This is a Jim Wise recording you’re feeling free to shit on here. Show some fucking respect, mister. Jim Wise’s field recordings are among the most sought after. Why? Because he knew what the fuck he was about, that’s why. Don’t take my word for it. Search Jim Wise and, again, spend more time listening. His field recording here stands up against many other decent ones captured on BOTH these runs.

3. These 15th anniversary shows—both at the Warfield and at RCMH—are notorious for not having great field recordings, and for a couple reasons. These were fairly small venues. Taper tickets were limited and they were restricted as to where they could set up because the concerts were being filmed. Look at the videos of the concerts. The tapers are all behind the board and under the balcony. The best recordings of these shows are going to be patch-ins to Healey’s own ‘super-matrixes’—the audio used for the film production—and that’s just how it is.

Subject: Terrapin!

Terrapin is very beautifully done here. I happened to have been looking for a version to "take me there" and this one was especially nice, 29 years ago today.

The sound quality is pretty good once you sink in.

Subject: Some Moments Here

I like the dynamics in Althea, some real quiet moments. Then a very nice MNS to end the first set. Fanning from both Bob and Jer.

Great setlist, but all in all much like alot from this run - not a lot of facemelting performances. Solid nonetheless and if your into this SF>NYC Dead Set/Reckoning run this show is well worth the DL.

It is a fine sounding aud. to boot. RCMH has great acoustics as these posted aud's are proving. Super vocal captures.

I'm thoroughly enjoying this show at the office. The audience gets quite loud at times, but I'm dealing with it.
What ever happened to gdlive.com ? I used to log onto that site quite a bit. It's been down for ages !

Subject: old favorite

This has to be my favorite China Cat/Rider. Hi energy great transition. Have had this on XL2 since 81. Its great to get it for download. Would love a SB of this one. Archive rocks!
