The Candyman is in town..
Acoustic Set
5 stars> but then again I think each and every 1980 acoustic set deserves that recognition.
Electric sets
4 stars> a whole entire 2 set show after the acoustic material WOW!
While the sound is good and lively there are times especially between songs that the dead air is a bit of a buzz kill.
also 1st electric set on sick bits has some level issues
from Row Jimmy to Minglewood
But bless our tapers, I can crank this with no problem!
Sweet Candyman
Jack Straw as a 1st electric set closer !
The pre-drums 3rd set is solid and thick especially considering
they had already done two sets of music.
RXR Blues is another song
that I undervalued until getting into the GD archives
great placement here
I have never heard Promised Land being the last rocker of the night

This show is amazing
Awesome set list. Awesome playing. Both sets are just absolutely stellar. I really love the Mississippi>Franklins opener. Also the Row Jimmy is a set one highlight in my opinion.
From Althea on is the dead at their top form. Set two will have you out of your seat dancing at times, and in a trance at other times. Only the dead can do this to you. DEFINITELY check this show out!!! I don’t give out 5 stars lightly, but this one is worth it.

A Challenge
Have a listen to the Althea and Jack Straw back to back a couple times. Then try to find a better version of each. I'm not talking sound quality....I'm talkin the boys having things dialed.
Lemme know what you find...I'm RRRREEEAAALLL curious.

Sounds like a board to me
This is a less than crisp board, not an audience. Or am I wrong?
It;s 10/10 95 today, so thought I 'd give show a try...Hot Franklins

Crappy splices of sbd and distant audience
Get a taste of a good audience around beginning of mwood which is hot it then goes into another sbd which is better quality. That said this is a great show with a hot Althea and Jack Straw just need a better copy. Scarlet>Fire is hot and I like the Big RR Blues in the middle...
One of the best promised lands ever.

Althea > Jack Straw
I went to the aforementioned school as well - both the Althea and Jack Straw are among the best versions ever - Jerry lays it down - anyone have the SBD? We had it high school circa 1981. Music is a 5 but I know the SBD smokes, so 4 total.
