5 stars? C'mon guys this show [IMHO] is not even worthy of 4 stars for the 90's. Yeah the SBD sounds better than the AUD but still theres no way this show even deserves 4. For one thing the Stagger Lee is so mangled that it's probably one of the worst ever; ditto the Crazy Fingers. You cant give a show 5 stars that has sloppy playing and blown lyrics like this. And I dont need to be a guitar player to spot shit playing and blown lyrics thank you very much. I was at all three nights of this run, even at the time I had this pegged as the worst of the three. The Saint and Terrapin are OK but the Saint from 6-16-93 is way better and the Terrapin from 6-23-93 eats this one[and most others] for breakfast. As for the morning Dew, it is damn good, but if you want to hear a showcase 90s version check out 6-15-93.
This show was probably the closest I ever came to the boys, I had a great view from Phils side and boy were they boring to watch; it seemed like they were just going through the motions, and after hearing the tape I think I was about right. After this show I went back to finding the best place for sound and dancing, and stopped worrying about getting close up. Trust me this show in no way even comes close to 5 stars, and I'm a fan of 90s Dead. for the sound I give it 5 but the performance only warrants 2.

I'm happy hearing both the stories and reviews together. I'm a late blooming fan who was actually quite anti-dead when they were touring. Now I'm official on the bandwagon and enjoy hearing the stories along with favorite picks from the people who were there.
now a bit of a review :)
The recording lacks some punch (especially with stagger lee as pointed out earlier), luckily I have some mastering software which allows me to pump up some of the weaker parts of the mix to the point that it almost sounds like a soundboard recording (it's not, right?).
All in all a decent show.

Hey Now, Yea this is not a perfect show. There are misplaced vocals and late cues but you all are forgetting what was really going on.
The Grateful Dead travelling road show was here for 3 days. There was dozens of busses. Take your pick, I camped for 5 days about a mile from the venue. Deadheads in all their misguided glory were everywhere. Even the cops were'nt bothering us as they had enough problems with traffic. You could'nt even pull in the parking lot because of all the extra people, vending, cooking, nitroxide, and just having a wonderful time. What time is it? Are you going inside tonight? these were real questions.
I did get inside on time for all three shows, but the parties going on outside were intense. I did sleep a little that weekend, but not much. As a long time fan I was always looking for a NEW song or something. did'nt need my seat or be requesting hits. I was in constant motion dancing , smoking & joking. The shows were enjoyable and I was'nt disappointed, I do remember that.
Am I the victim or the crime, shit I don't know. I enjoyed myself as I'm sure the band did as well. Weather was nice. Listening tonight 14 years later, hey this is a good show! Everyone is playing or singing their hearts out. I can hear the mix o.k.
The entire late summer/fall touring schedule was grueling. For me and my years of following these five guys "up and down the county line" this show was a definite high point. Looking back I've lost several good friends since that wild night. They all gave their best while they were with us. I have cherished those memories for a long time. This show his just one of those memorable events in life. Yea, the last night near the end of the show I slipped in a flooded bathroom. When I complained I was put into handcuffs/shackled with 17 other people in the basement of the hall. The other 16 were all drug offences, I was the only "disorderly conduct while intoxicated" that next morning in court. It cost $100 and I hitchhiked back to my campsite, tent and all my stuff was safe, but the carnival left town, never really to be seen again in these parts!

In all due respect to opinions- and honestly, to the previous reviewer, I appreciate your post I could not even get passed sentence number 3 at first, but I did read it.
I just listened to this HC sunshine and it rocks...I have the previous 2 shows on sbd and they are killer and this show completes that great trifecta. I appreciate the critical nature, I really do, but I guess I am uncomfortable with your use of 'sloppy' in respect of jerry's playing in this forum. The recording may suck, but it does not) and the playing may be different but sloppy is like overly critical for me. I mean, do you play guitar or something?
I agree though, it is ot 4 or 5 stars: 4.5 for sound and 3 for the performance overall as the set was mixed with some 'haunting; jams, like victim, crazy fingers, and filler material covers like 'last time'. For me, the mood they inspired is sort of blahze....so it is sort of a blah mix of tunes.
Peace,
B

This is a good qual SB.
We fdrove from DC straight to the lot. An hour before this show we didnt have our tix, party-ables, or a place for the night...
Missed the Sunshine (oh well) --- We walked in at beginning of the Stagger Lee...seats were about 14th row jerry side, floor. Smilin with big ol' pupils...danced straight thru -- Very few things in life beat a good Terripin in person -- throw in the Stagger Lee and Crazy Fingers...yummy
I was a sleeping baby in a warm house on a couch by sunrise - torched. Shaker Heights I think it was called --only to get the blessing of coming back tomorrow --
so sweet it was --12 1/2 years ago my friends -- wow - MIDWEST FOLK ARE PRETTY FRIGGIN IRIE! thanks for the trip:
there is nothing like a greatful dead show

Subject: What A Recovery
This was the worst show I seen when it comes to mistakes with lyric's. The first set Jerry stumbles with the lyrics in "Here Comes Sunshine" and "Stagger Lee" affecting they're playing a little bit too. I remember people litterally giving away tickets for the next night and trading for upcoming shows. I had never seen so many ticket exchanges after a set.
The second set opened with Victim which had a spooky feel to it..quite nice. Then Jerry continued to mess up lyric's durring "Crazy Fingers". Then the most outstanding recovery occured. "Saint of Circumstance" seemed to pull them right out of the hole and they rocketed in to orbit. The Terrapin was perfect with lots of energy and the "Morning Dew" with Phil whipping out these evil thunder sounds in the middle and Jery fireing on all cylinders has got to be a top ten...just listen to it and you'll understand. This show is a very good
example of the amazing ability to recover the dead had. It sounds very good aswell.

Great upgrade on the sound quality first off. I give it a 5 only because not only is it a great sounding board mix, but this show features a 5 star moment in the version of Morning Dew...classic
The Morning Dew from this show is one of the best versions I've heard at least during the Welnick era and is in my personal "best of" lists of all time Dews. Played with precision, emotion and inventiveness this version blows the roof off.
I didn't notice as many vocal mistakes distracting my enjoyment of the first set (T-Jed was pretty good). Second set is great. Victim twists and burns, Crazy Fingers has it's moments, St. of Circumstance climaxes nicely and Terrapin is really one of the better played versions of the 90s...post space, a tight, well played Last Time segues into the brilliant Morning Dew. Check out the Dew...it's huge

I saw all three shows this run and the second set of this show was my favorite, especially the Morning Dew. It was an experience. The whole run was pretty good. I think the sound quality on this is good enough for 5 stars. I'm enjoying listening to this one and 9-8-93. The archive is awesome!
