find the best versions of grateful dead songs
Grateful Dead March 23, 1981
Rainbow Theatre London, | Listen on archive
Beautiful, flowing, spacey version, reminiscent of 3/7/81 from a couple weeks earlier.
A standout top ten version, powerful and ripping Jerry fanning away like a madman possessed. Needs to be checked out.
2To Lay Me Down
Powerful and emotional set 2 performance. Reaches moments of near silence, a true beauty with powerful Jerry vocals.
3Playin' In The Band
A real nice flowing playing in the band has a nice esoteric jam that leads beautifully into the drums.
1The Other One
A powerhouse version driven forward maniacally by Billy and then Mickey, a true beauty
Not sure what is more emotional on this version Jerry's singing or his guitar playing. This one kicks ass emotional and powerful.
Out of "Stella" comes a thrashy, supercharged, cocaine infused "Sugar Magnolia" that's just delightful.
3Lazy Lightnin' -> Supplication
super high energy, check it out
2Samson and Delilah
HOLY SCHNIKIES BATMAN! This is a Smoking Samson!
1New Minglewood Blues
Surprisingly hot, carried by the high energy of the set
