Out of order
In the days of SHN files and CDr burning, encores were often put at the end of the first set as it wouldn't fit on a disc of the 2nd set

Why is Day Job in here as Track 9? Should be track 20, right?
That's so to make the best space if your coping to disc and not chop up songs.:)

Dogs in a great year
I did not miss many shows in '85, 4 total...these shows sucked...the worst of the year after Boreal and Philly 4.6 (4.7 and 8 were very hot)..band was tired from the killer East Coast Fall Tour...the next week at the Kaiser was scorching hot, some of my favorite ever.
These shows still beat anything after '86.

Great performance!
It's true that the show's a bit short, and they didn't really pull anything out special, but what they played, they played well! The recording is of mixed quality, changing throughout from warm to bright, but never bad.

Linear
I know that it is not always the quantity of the show that matters, but this is one of the shortest shows I have come across. DNA but would have been bummed that they did not close out with Tennessee Jed and Cumberland in the first set instead of opening with it for set 2.
I guess it was a novelty?
Pre drums is 27 minutes.
Kaiser 2/20 was shorter overall (only 8 songs in the first set and LL Rain barely over 10 min). But in this show, Bucket was roughly as long as nearly every second set song. (Crazy Fingers aside).
I think the show is average for 1985. Probably had some hot moments but not in league with Philly, Springfield, 'Toga, Richmond, etc... .

first acid
i tripped (on acid, first time) at this show with philrmonic below. man, open the 2nd set w/ Tennessee Jed? of course, i thought it was because i was tripping that they did that...my buddy Al lost his glasses during cumberland. and i saw hopi sand paintings on the inside of my eyelids...and yes faith healer peter popov was saving souls next door to the arena all afternoon the next day...being the curious folks we were, we watched pete save every sucker who went up there...every so often there'd be a deadhead getting saved...too weird, or not weird enough...see "hopi sandpainting" reference above

Backyard
I lived across the street from the Arena at the time & could look out my balcony & see it from my living room. It was a rush to walk out my door across the street to the show & get as high as I wanted & not have to worry about driving home. This was a great show from start to finish. My audience recordings just couldn't do it justice. I am so glad these SB's exist.

This show smoked
First of all, it was nice to have the Dead play so close to home for me. This show smoked from the beginning to end. The Bucket, Sugaree, El Paso & Dupree's were all peak performances. The second set had two surprise openers of a hot Tennesee Jed followed by a rocking Cumberland. Miracle was hot too and Crazy Fingers was sweet. Comes a Time was also a highlight and the energy just exploded with Gimmee Some Lovin'. Phil and Brent had a nice vocal rap in the end that went into a short jam that Jerry cut off to do Truckin'. Peter was good and Good Loving was hot One thing that this recording doesn't have is Bobby taking the microphone off the mike stand during Good Loving and walking around during his rap. Day Job was played well too though most of us were so sick of that song by that time.
