thus far on the tour. Nice Althea, but very out of tune Bobby on the acoustic numbers. Lazy River Road is quite enjoyable, and Eternity gets hot with Vince driving the jam. The second set is excellent throughout. Loved the Playing>UJB.

Sp94 Rosemont- Night 2
Not as good as night prior, but still a good show. Better second than first set. Really short first set and don’t like that Eternity closer. Otherwise

Althea is OK and Lazy River always pleases. Vince sometimes too high in the mix and at times it sounds like they are playing over each other, particularly I hear it during Mexicali. Whose solo is that? Not entirely sure. Same for UJB in second set. Perhaps it was by design, at this point, who knows? Post-space is excellent, culminating in a fine 93 (or any year) Morning Dew. Itself worth the price of admission. Rain encore.

day and went back to see if I still feel the same about it. Somebody had posted a review bashing me for giving a '90's show four stars when I had given one from the late '70's three stars. That's like comparing apples and oranges. I rate shows against the same year or era. A big part of my review has to do with sound quality. I mean I might find a show wonderful when somone else doesn't. Thats the way life is. I don't expect everyone to like everything I like. Some people are just closed minded and petty I guess.

Rocking the Rosemont: solid show from '94
Another good show from this much maligned year. Solid playing from everybody involved. Jerry has that Lightning bolt acoustic like sound going for much

of the show and he's wailing too. Though on Playing I think a more electric tone with greater sustain would have worked better, but what are you gonna do? Vince too plays really well and is finally fully integrated into the Dead's sound ('bout time too);-) Bobby too is playing well and is in good voice. His electric tone makes a really nice contrast to Jerry's more acoustic one. Phil once again is barely audible though, damn it all. That's a problem that seems to plague these early '94 boards, just gotta use a little eq (well a lot really). As for the songs the Dew is fantastic, the Althea, Playing, Iko and UJB and subsequent jam are also excellent. Jerry lays out just at the end of the jam and Vince and Bobby do a really cool build that climaxes and fades nicely into drums. And what a remarkable drums and space. One of the best space segments I've ever heard, outstanding. As far as the set goes there's not a clunker in the bunch. A solid 4 star show for 1994, good sound, good set and good playing.

firing of soundman Dan Healy before the 1994 Tour did wonders!! Jerry's voice is heavily compressed in 1993 and as a result, took away Jerry's subtle nuances. Vince with terrific grand piano sound and also some organ throughout. Bobby supports with tasteful color and Phil digs deep. The end of song climax is unlike any sort of music I have ever heard. Check it out. (Bobby plays a horrible steel-drum/guitar dual-voice guitar sound that is so annoying during The Wheel!)
