Subject: Eleven hits of 'disco' Acid
Subject: Eleven hits of 'disco' Acid
My wife and I drove up from Phoenix; 8 hours; did 11 hits of '90's acid; got caught in the monster thunderstorm; we were in the high, no pun intended, seats; Sting waved to my Wife! I couldn't complain if she left for STING! any way Sting was great; storm was massive; Dead were ... GREAT
When Micky, I think, was tuning the kettle drums it resonated the entire Silver Bowl! Did I mention 11 hits of Acid? Then straight into Cold Rain and Snow!!!

I was one of the 8 or 9 people who was struck by LIGHTNING in the parking lot on Friday afternoon while Sting was opening the show for the boys. My best friend Marty and his wife Tiana & I were all struck indirectly by a bolt of Lightning, instant Thunder and an immediate downpour of Rain. No one was seriously injured. We then jumped back into our little Nissan along with 2 other girls who were without shelter. Freaked out just a little bit , we all just chilled in the car for a while to let the storm pass and smoke a bowl or two of Kind ,,,

I was actually about 15 feet away from the guy who got hit by lightning, he wasnt directly hit, it hit a car he was sitting on. The ambulance took him to the hospital but he protested the whole time that he could only go that nights show. They took him anyway but supposedly the Dead heard about it and backstaged him the next day. It was a great show, Steve Miller was awesome, and Vegas was a great place for shows.

Legend has it that a guy was struck by lighting in the parking lot. He was bleeding out both eyes. Paramedics treated him but he refused to go the hospitol opting to go to the show instead. Wise choice.
The heat at the begining was almost unbearable. That freak storm that drove the band backstage just as they were starting actually cooled the place down, though everything was all wet and slimy.
The golden moment for me came when Jerry started playing this beautiful, bouncy guitar intro. Finally it melded into Uncle Johns Band. Of course I was peaking at that moment.

Drove from Southwest Missouri (Springfield) that year in 19 hours without drugs other than soda and Mary J.!! Wow awesome time. Me and Kurdy alias Kristin, had a great time. I got dosed by being sprayed several times in the crowd. Yeah, the dust and lightning storm were great, especially during the encore. Had a few "Micky punchball ballooooonnnssss" in my car while waiting to exit parking lot. Wow, almost stalled my car!! WWWAAAAAMMMMMMWWWWAAAAAMMMM. No floppy chicken though. Greatest thing about the trip.....got miracled while waiting in line for pisser......Awesome!!!!

Nice recording. Real. I had a great time with my friend Don Ferguson enjoying a lot less midi from Jer. These three were a party as the lots were Shakin and the shows were like kick starting the tour. Cold Rain came in as the heat of the day flew off 5 minutes before this day show. Start time I beleive was 2:30PM for all three. Great, Great Times...

I brought my mom and step dad to this show. The traffic was so bad we parked a distance away and had to walk to the show. We missed Sting. By the time we got there it was hailing and I took my parents up the back to the top to get a view and they were announcing to get off the metal bleachers because of the lightning. My moms favorite song was Ramble on Rose and she was thrilled to hear it. I try to explain the luck she had, hearing the one song she wanted at the one show she went to.
Every Vegas show was about half complaining people. For me they were all great and seeing the deadheads take over Vegas for a weekend each year kicked ass.

I only saw a handfull of shows, but this one was my first. We drove from Mississippi. I especially remember the thunder storm. Wild! We were on the field, and I remember looking up and seeing some crazy guy climbing up the stadium lights while the lightning was so close.
I thought Sting was pretty good too. Except he played the exact same set on Saturday, then came back Sunday with something different, including some cool covers(even some Beetles and Hendrix).
It was like someone had to sit him down and tell him, "look man, these are all the same people. Even the ones that are outside know exactly what you played."
Fantastic road trip! Really great to be able to listen to it here. I love the aud recording, takes me back to the actual moment!

I'd agree that the exuberant Ramble on Rose was when the band first started clicking at this show, the opener of a three-day run. Black Throated has a typically nice finale. They were still searching for the appropriate slot for Liberty at this point, but it's clear here that the song was more appropriate in the encore slot.
Scarlet>Fire to start the second set on the first night of the run excited me at the time, and the Scarlet is actually quite long and spacy. Phil dominates the mix during the Fire intro and Mickey is quite present throughout this version. Energetic, for sure.

Long, long wait on the road outside to get into the lot. There was a sudden thundershower, and a woman actually got struck by lightning walking to this show along the road. She was okay, but it was a weird beginning to the run....
This show really starts with the Ramble on Rose. Everybody woke up at the line "aces back to back"--crowd and band both--the first moment everyone really got into the fact of being there. The show was solid from there to the end.
Pretty sure Jerry breaks a string in the middle of Fire, and Mickey steps forward to fill some of the space while he's fixing it.
Not a fantastic recording, and not a fantastic show. Definitely some good moments, though.

despite the hype of sunday's show, this was my favorite of the three. why? vince didn't walk all over jerry with synth wash bull that eliminates guitar. yes, i like guitar, not synth wash.
craig, if you're out there man, this one's for you. back in '94-'95, i "bought" (gasp, yes) a bootleg cd of this show with a lovely audience recording that surpasses anything you'll hear here. with my now ears, i know that it was FOB, so good that you can hear the audience bum out as a jet passes overhead during lazy river road.
this is not the most spectacular show from vegas, it's the most SOLID of the three. vince just creeps me out on what should be an awesome show on the third night, 5/16. synthesizer interferes with jerry. on this night, it's clean.
