REALLY like this show from start to end, many tasty moments indeed! First set is very solid and Foolish to open the second is sublime. That said, hands

down the highlight for me is the Death Has No Mercy, one of those songs I never saw live. Can’t imagine how intense that must have been emerging from the ether in ATL - and so well played! Tonight, as I listen in the midst of the Covid-19 disaster, it is incredibly relevant and sends chills up and down my spine. Stay safe everyone, we will get by, we will survive!

energy, to be sure. Surprising lyrical flubs on let it grow, 4:40. Scary good/haunting drums, especially for the last few minutes starting around 8 mins. Awesome stuff into space. After 19 years in semi-retirement, they brought back death don't have no mercy on 9/29/89. Played it a couple more times at Hampton (10/9) and Philly (10/19), then retired it after this Atlanta show. Poignant second verse from Brent. Oh yes, and black muddy river encore.

This show has, hands down, the best Black Muddy River ever performed in my opinion. I've been searching for it, and this is it!

Okay, so I was there for this 3 night run in Atlanta. First time I ever ate Mellow Mushroom pizza. I learned a good lesson at the April Fool's Day show.
...
A veteran Deadhead and I did the first night and were walking out saying that it was more like a soundcheck than a real show. Then, we heard some kid in front of us say, "That was the best show of theirs I ever saw!" We smiled and my friend came up with a saying we used until Jerry passed on. "Every show is someone's favorite!"
The second night of this run was good. We'd heard about them playing DDHNM at the soundcheck earlier that day, so we knew it was coming. (Thanks to the Wharf Rats for hipping us to it.)

This year.... that year.... enough already. Were you there? Did you have fun?
As good as this.... as good as that.... It was what It was.
For 3hrs., on ... said night, the Boys allowed each of us a chance to escape it all.... If you were there!?
( and archive.org allows you if you weren't )
Yes, there is something to be said about EVERY night.... and the one's there wasn't.... remember.... They were on tour also!
All I do know.... I was there.... middle/late spring tour 90'.... Never to be forgotten!
I don't ever remember being in a show and wishing I wasn't there.... YOU?

Not the best of 1990, to be sure, but a good all-around show. The first set is spectacular, highlighted by strong versions of Stranger and Let It Grow.
...
The band brings the latter down beautifully to almost nothing before Jerry plays the signature theme at the end - too bad he flubs the first note. The pre-Drums second set is pretty much jamless, but the Drums>Space>Other One satisfies in that regard, with the Space hinting at Watchtower at points. One of the few Death Don'ts follows - Brent is on fire on this as throughout the show. Even Around and Around, not one of my favorites, shines here.

When i moved to Atlanta , married, started a family in 1986, i wasn't able to bring myself to do the slow motion circus road trips any longer. But the Omni
...
shows were the one thing we affored ourselves in the way of luxeries;;;;;;;;)
Although i don't remember most of the shows in great detail, i do remember this one. Mostly coz i haden't worn my soul thin, although my soles were thin long before.Cap center, Merriwhether.(rain storm came and delayed the show, flooded a creek, and a foot bridge.Washed over a bunch of Harleys). What a fuckin shame!Hampton as The Warlocks...
This show stands out mostly due to coz it was the last time we saw Brent.Without a doubt,Brent was the best they ever sounded, hands down.He knew that Hammond organ like it was a part of his soul. His voice....Man!!!.It was also the last time that i can reacall, i saw the "Beams" as a regular part of the show. And also the last time the Rhythm Devils were weren't a feature part of the show.Intermissions seemed to vanish after that.....Space,drums.Then reprise for the second set was the norm after that.
This was also the last year i heard the dead play as the Grateful Dead....Everything else afterwards wasn't the same.Even moreso after Bruce bowed out to be a father.
My fondest memories of the Omni shows tho, are the lamp pole drum guys.I was about to sit there all night and listen to those 5 guys play that one lamp pole all night.
The last year they had camping and vending arcross from CNN, and my all time favorite memory is the couple that got married during intermission, and the crowd was shouting to the band a sthey took the stage"They just got married",eventually the whole audience joined in, and at first Bobby, was cupping his ear trying to hear what the chant was.
The lights were still on when he motioned for the couple to come from the tappers section to the first row.The ended intermission by dedicating Samson and Delilah to them. The most beautiful thing i've ever saw in my life ....No other established act would have ever done that!.The best band ever, with a heart of gold to boot.!!!!!!

seems to hit a peak, and whole band is there. When I heard the news about Brent, it was his verse in this "Death Don't" that I thought of first.
Not an all-time classic, but a very good show and a nice recording of it.

IMO, the best Omni show of run. I think I went to more shows on this tour than any other I Spring tour I attended, and I am glad I did. I find this version
...
of The Weight to be one of the best I've listened to and definitely the best I saw live. The crowd was very into the first set, with good reason. If you don't find the whole show appetizing for some reason, just burn the first set. Death Don't is wonderful as well.
I know I keep writing this, but all the young heads who were fortunate enough to get on the bus around 86-87 have lots to be grateful for. All the older heads who held on through the early 80's must be proud as hell that the boys found a nice groove again before Jerry's demise. Its solid shows like this one that confirm the Dead was the greatest live band to ever step onto a stage.
Sound is fantastic here, also!

Rain. I would swear that this is the version that is on the "Without a Net" CD. This copy captures the 'thunder' & audiences is going insane! Bobby DEFINITELY had his 'rock god' persona going for this number. Other highlights are The Weight, a sweet Easy to Love You, & last time ever played...Death Don't Have No Mercy. This was one of their best runs @ the Omni. Very solid '90's show
