20 years ago this evening........
Sitting here 20 years older and remembering this show. Man what a great time!! We were blessed to have great seats and comfortable lodging at the Clarion right next to the Rosemont. It was a very strong show with top notch versions off all the numbers right out of the gate with the Stranger. Ramble on Rose!!!! I remember the 2nd set with a passion especially the jam out of Corinna into the last MLB jam they ever did. For me the highlight of the show was the SOTM. I was with my then girlfriend (now wife) and build up was beyond intense and many around me had tears in their eyes. Just got done listening to it and I had tears in my eyes. Man do I miss the boys together. Surely one of the better shows of 93 and Jerry still could blow the roof of the damn joint at will.

Set 1 is wonderful
Set 2 is decent but somewhat clunky (but with a few great moments)
No, wouldn't agree that this is one of the best of 93. Many better ones as a whole.

An honest-to-god 4+ show
Even with that ugly looking pre-drums, this is a good show for any era. Hot first set is anchored by a sweet Peggy-o, and a hot Ramble on, but all songs hit the mark. Second set is great from Lazy River on.. Corrina, never one of my favorites, is great! with a really impressive MLB jam, and a pretty engaging drums/space. I'm surprised how strong this show is. Great 93 Dead.

Nice Ramble on Rose
Ramble on is nearly flawless and the whole show, aside from a clunky sort of Eyes, is well done. 5 star sound.

Grate Show
I really like 93. Jerry is smooth and fluent and ripping throughout this show. Awesome Stranger to open. The Peggy-O, Queen Jane, Ramble On are all grate versions. The Let it Grow is a savage. Jerry is very fluid and the whole band is on fire. Vince has some nice additions on this too.
Eyes>Way To Go>Lazy River>Corrina is a good jam. The Eyes is excellent with some very fluid runs by Jerry. Way to Go has some good Jerry solos and nice vocals by Vince. The LRR is nice. The Corrina is a real ripper; Jerry is just on fire with this, though Jerry and Vince's background vocals leave something to be desired, but Bobby is def on point. Wheel into a solid Watchtower. SOTM is pure late era emotional Jerry and a huge solo to finish it off. NFA makes you shake them bones for sure. Sweet Baby Blue to finish it off.
RIP Vince

I laughed at the Donna handle too - and agree fully. But you're including one of the 3 best songs Jerry wrote in the last 15 years of his life in your 'sh*t sandwich'. That ain't right.
That said - this is a below average '93 show.

concur with donna
My local public radio station in LA played this show about a year ago and when I went to look up the setlist, I didn't bother to listen or record. I went back to this site and took a gamble and was pretty pleased. I don't like much of spring 93 but this is not bad. However, the "shit sandwich" that donna refers to is indeed painful. No way can I give this anything higher than a 3 with that dreck stuffed in there. However, if these tunes get you going, then it might be in your best interest to listen

Spring 93'
Massive snow prevented me from gettig to any shows before N.C. too bad these shows were pretty good. My biggest regret is missing the ONLY BABY BLUE of the year. It is just played perfect. Flawless tight as drum even Vinny is great on Piano and Vocals. Jerry seems pleased says a rare "good night everybody" at the end.

if you think '93 wasn't all that great..
Although the setlist is not the greatest, Jerry's vocals are very strong, and his playing is rock-solid, especially the jam in the mid-section of Corrina, and his solo at the end of SOTM.
Revision: to DonnaRuinedThe70's: Every time I see your reviews I laugh my ass off at your archive handle. Secondly, i couldn't help but chuckle at your review for this night. I can recall a couple evenings where I was in the same sad shape onnly to get pulled out of it by a tune that just wouldn't let me sit still any longer.

passed out...
I had my head in my lap from too much Jimmy Beam and possibly one too many 1-hitters. i could hear everything, and wanted to get up and go crazy, but could not move myself....THAT IS, until i heard jerry start with the eyes chords during tuning for the second set. That snapped me out of my jim beam coma and the rest, well you know...
Now,most will say the second set was weaker than the first, and while i cannot give a fair assessment between the two (being more or less passed out for the first), i will say that the Wheel and SOTM post D/S were both amazing. And you will never hear me bitch about a Baby Blue encore. The way to go/lazy river/corrina shit sandwhich was the only thing preventing this from being a 4 star show. i was never able to get into any of those tunes. Post note...Phil is mixed very nicely in this version. And Jerry's playing is very tight and distinct for this timeframe.

luke warm...
I give this one a 4 based on the recording. I was at this one. I had a scanner and I could hack into their side conversations on stage and find out what was gonna be played.
Jerry was hillarious.. When vince was like "long way to go home", Jerry said "WAY to ruine your evening" He always busted Vince and Bobby"s balls.
The beginning of Corrina totally sounds like he's gonna play "Iron Man".
Mind leaving body jams are always hott..
A lot of new songs though...

My 1st show
I was late to get on the bus, but this was a great show to start with, and having the music will help me do a mind warp back to this show whenever I desire. Thanx to everyone for contributing to this cornecopia of sweet tunes. (BTW, the show is above average performance-wise, with some good singing and solos, and the sound quality is very good, but not ultra-crisp.)

Tight & Solid Show
By 1993, great shows were few and far between, but luckily they could still be pulled off. 3/10/93, from the Stranger opener through Baby Blue has that spark that made me come back for more. They were still listening to each other and playing off of one another. Stranger is hot. There is a run Garcia goes on at the end of Vince's solo in Queen Jane that still gives me goosebumps. Ramble on Rose is probably the finest I ever saw in 10 years of seeing the boys(85-95). The absolute highlight was the jam out of Corrina. As it was going on, I was marveling not just at the interplay of the band, but that, too bad they played Rider the night before. The jam built to such a great cresendo, it would have worked perfectly as a segue into Rider. After the peak, Bobby comes back with the "shake, shake", pulling the song back into the realm of Corrina. After that Jerry starts up the Mind Left Body theme. Not as intricate as 3/24/90, but still cool. The rest of the show is very good. SOTM is slow and deliberate, almost heavy. Great solo at the end.

Rosemont's finest
This is one of the best shows of '93. One of the best performances of Ramble on Rose ever. The jam is over the top. Peggy-O, Queen Jane are both inspired versions. The Let it Grow is blazing. Jerry is so fired up at this show. The Wheel out of space is exquisite...The Watchtower has some of the fastest and most amazing noodles Jerry has ever done. This is a MUST HAVE show!!!

Not bad at all!
Jerry was relatively clean & healthy for this run, and it shows. The performances are mostly strong & tight, esp. 'Ramble On Rose'. The energy peters out a bit after 'Eyes', but overall, a very clean recording of a solid show.
