Jack Straw
LEGENDARY!! Just give a listen.
11
I Need A Miracle
Energized and passionate
2
Casey Jones
Great end to a great 4 night run, 2 MSG and the 2 Nassau shows. Being the first Casey Jones I saw live makes it special to me, but it smokes. Give i
5
Estimated Prophet
Very smooth
9
Sugaree
Solid show opener (I can leave Weir's slide parts, though). Jerry's clearly having a good night.
6
Pretty Peggy O
Nice reading with extended solos from Garcia. His voice is a bit rough, but he's singing emotively.
3
Cassidy
A bit faster than I usually prefer it, but this is probably one of the last versions with Donna that’s decent, if you prefer her harmonies to Brent’s.
7
Friend of the Devil
Nice and slow! It's like Garcia can't play a wrong note tonight! Some nice support from the full band at the climax (esp. Keith).
4
New Minglewood Blues
Why should you give a whiz about another version of Minglewood?
4
Ramble On Rose
“Rose” has that nice shuffle-boogie I love so much (I think they nail the tempo). Listen to the crowd explode when he hits the “just like NYC” line!
4
Ship of Fools
I think this version works best when Keith is adding color to it, and he sounds nice here.
3
The Other One
Don't think it's great on it's own, but nice part of Estimated>He's Gone>D>S>Truckin'>TOO>Stella sequence.
3
Truckin'
Nice Jerry soloing to lead into TOO.
4
He's Gone
Typical version, which is good in the late 70s.
2
He's Gone
Typical version, which is good in the late 70s.
7
Deal
Acrobatic, inspired, fun, and forceful
3
Big River
Jerry and Bobby are great here. Burning.
