Remember the Good Times
A little disappointed with some of the reviews - not very Dead-like...
I, too, was at both shows. A couple notes...
Before the concert I saw a guy who was obviously going to the show but looked lost and bewildered. "It's this way" I said. "Are you sure?" he replied. "Cause I saw the sign say Copps and I didn't want to go that way!" True story.
While this was my first live Terrapin, what I remember most about the concert was their cover of "This Could Be the Last Time" - it was almost a religious experience the way the crowd sang along. I thought it was a rockin' version, almost full of suspense. Being Canadian and not having as easy of an accessibility to Dead shows, I recall thinking this might in fact be the last time I saw them. So, it was very reflective moment for me personally. Then, in the spring '95 word got out they would be coming to Toronto in October! I was so excited, and remember thinking that my "religious experience" wouldn't play out. Sadly, it was not to be - but I will always remember my last show...

Don't get too high on the air
We missed the first night of these shows when the VW bus broke down in Coldwater, Michigan. The border was chill, though, and the cops in Hamilton were awesome. I distinctly remember one cop saying to another, "don't get too high on the air," laughing. They teased me for my sign asking for a miracle, but I did get a ticket for less than face-value and the show was a total family night with Jerry playing his faves. I distinctly remember a rockin' Peggy O and Terrapin, and just good vibes in the hallway. I got my wisdom teeth out a couple days before the shows, so that and the snowstorm on the way home kicked my ass, but it was sooo worth it. Good vibes at this show, that's all I can say.

This show was on Sirius yesterday..Help>Slip>Franklins could be one of the worst played..shut it down during Rooster, couldn't take it any longer..bruce, vince made it sound like a carnival and play way too much. IMO these guys cant touch what Brent create. Jerry is on his way out..go back 10 years if you want to here better stuff.

Not a great show
I was at both nights. The first night was spectacular, the second night not so hot. Jerry was totally off the second night. What held the show together was Bruce. He dominated both shows, and to those who said he wasn't there I can assure you he was. Me and my Canadian cohort were practically in the first row, and my friend (3rd row floor, second night) remarked to me afterwards how he was so close that a smoke cloud from his butt enveloped Bruce.

Sometimes we visit your country & live in your home.
The venue, the population, security, police were all very congenial to Deadheads. Most of my fellow heads that I witnessed were rude and took advantage of every amenity offered without so much as a "Thank You." The band did not disappoint tonight, but heads sure did.
Maybe It wasn't Hornsby, but I was there and saw a blond guy behind a baby grand that looked and sounded JUST LIKE BRUCE.
The Terrapin was a good one. Help>Slip>Frank rocked. The Peggy-O and Black Peter were also well played tonight.

Love it. Great all the way around - check out Bruce's piano solo and funky clavinet/synth stuff. The distortion on this recording is unfortunate. But the music is STRONG!

Copp a Feel 2
Bruce was there on 3/20 at least - if you can't tell from the piano playing, he sings the 3rd verse of Maggie's.
This 2nd show is pretty lackluster.
The Dead didn't "lose their way with Brent's passing" - they lost their way because of Jerry's roller coaster of recovery/relapse.
Let's face it. When Jerry is up there, nodded out, singing and playing like krap - that leaves you with:
1) Bobby, whose best case scenario is that he is in tune and not detracting from songs with his various flailings.
2) Phil, whose avante garde style is all well and good when everyone else is "on" - but has a tendency to add to the incoherent dissonance when they're not
3) Vince, who just never learned how to properly meld with Jerry.
4) bob Bralove, feeding Vince cheesy sounds. Synth 'choir of angels' sounds added to classic dead? That's like taking a glass of '61 Lafite and pouring six packs of Sweet & Low into it.

Golf Course
We camped at that golf course, and it might have been us with the bottle of Jack. I never saw any West Coast shows, so this two-night run in Hamilton, ONT qualifies as my most "exotic" Dead locale. Definitely the COLDEST! For the record, the Canadians and their cops couldn't have been nicer and more hospitable.
I think the previous night's show was superior, but no one's mentioned the really sweet, extended "Shenandoah" that Jerry and Bruce do toward the send of space. Warmed the hearts of a couple of Virginia boys who made the long trek.
All around great experience in the lot and around the big fire at the golf course with a couple of benevolent cops who were just there to make sure no one got hurt. I'm not making this up.

Good Times
Was outside for this one. Went to the Philly shows and thought the weather there was much worse especially on the 17th. Went back to Pgh. and ended up getting some money off my buddie's mom to borrow and ended up in Canada. I had a dream before tour was announced I was going to see the Dead at the north pole so this was as close as it got. Obtained a ticket for the first night for $75 and got a US Blues for my adventure north. Didn't have enough money for second night so I hung out around the Coliseum a little and ended up in this mall behind the place. There must have been 4 or 500 people in this mall trying to stay warm and there was this huge drum circle of over 100 drums just like totally taking over this mall. The Canadian people were so nice they had 5 differant places around Hamilton we could camp and get warm if needed. Stayed at this golf course that had hot showers for us. Partied with a couple heads with a big bottle of Jack Daniels and needless to say if it weren't for my buddy I would have never made it home. Didn't wake up till Erie so I never did see the falls. I thank the Archive for posting this 'cause I never could get the recordings.

A sad end for me
This proved once and for all that the magic for me was lost. This was to be my last live show.
Just compare either of the 1990 Copps shows to these and you'll know what I mean when I say the band lost it's way without Brent.
If this show rates 5 stars then the 90 shows rate 10 stars.

This show sucked!!
I saw both nights at this venue. First off, the first night was only one of two good shows on the ENTIRE TOUR (the other being 3/16 in Philly due to illness...I know, lame), but I actually had to talk my friend out of leaving before we heard a good Black Peter>Saturday Nite. I mean, my first Help>Slip>Tower was treacherous, Jerry looked like he was gonna keel over. Expending a little too much energy the night before? Oh no, that's right, that was Hornsby doing that!!!!!! DO NOT download this show. get the night before and the Monday night show in Philly, then forget this tour ever happened, except a few belches in Atlanta 3 weeks prior. Oh yeah, the snowstorm was horrid, we did the drive back to Indiana through Michigan.

Yes Hornsby was at both shows...
Rather obvious!!! Kind of hard playing the Baldwin and the casio at the same time. Listen to Promised Land on 3/20. Anyways, this night's sound quality does not pass mustard (one star)in my opinion. Compressed vocals and weak dynamics due to the cassette or two generations. 3/20 rocks. Guess I will stick with my DAT masters for this one...

Bruce WAS There
To the guy who posted here as well as under the commments for 3/20, Bruce DID play both shows. I was there and have pics. Just listen to the tapes for proof.
IMO 3/20 w/ selections from 3/21 set 1 as filler would make an excellent Dicks Picks.

Bruce Hornsby was not at these two shows.
Yes, it was actually Vince Welnick, and he rocked.
actually, the whole band rocked...
It was lucky to catch Garcia not sounding croaky and like he was 90.
Super shows, this two-show venue is a must-have.
And, BTW, there is a misprint in this setlist. Instead of El paso, it's Peggy-O.

This is a great show! Franklin has clipping on Jerry's vocals. The Help-> Slip-> Frank with Bruce was always nice. So Many Roads is very strong here. The Terrapin and the jam seal the deal. Canadian Beer and the DEAD! Oh YEAH! The snow storm after the show sucked as we travel through Sarina to get to Detroit. The Auburn Hills shows rocked as well!
