Is that Pigpen I hear doing background vocals on Ramble on Rose? Plus there's a nice harp on Big Railroad Blues. Always thought that Ron sort of faded

Also...
Fabulous PITB, top-ten Cumberland. And Truckin' is great - you can actually hear Pigpen's organ! The spring of '72 is Ron's swan song - he seems to lose

energy by the second set. And then...he was gone. I rarely download anything past the summer of '72, when he played his last show.

Why do these early 70's recordings sometimes have a better sound quality than some of the shows from the 90's. Did the technology get worst?

blooms here and the band is cooking. A lot of the blues tunes have a barroom band feel to them, a sound they lost along the way. But Next Time You See Me, You Win Again, Cumberland Blues and Big RR Blues sound like a Saturday night at a honky tonk. And that is a good thing! Pigpen? At this stage of his life he is balling!
