find the best versions of grateful dead songs
Grateful Dead June 15, 1976
Beacon Theatre New York, NY | Listen on archive
Cool intro and ending. Heartfelt 15 minute rendition.
Typical laid-back, groovy sweetness...a gem for sure
1Looks Like Rain
Everybody shines, even Donna...very nice
1Weather Report Suite
Sweet! Everybody is locked in
Holy heady version! This is a religious experience. I flat out love me some '76, wow...
4Might As Well
At the Beacon Theatre in NYC, Jerry noodles his way out of the first set with this upbeat tune.
Rockin' & tight ya'll. Nuff' said. There needs to be a promised land repped here.
2Dancin' in the Streets
Played almost everynight of the tour but still maintains a funky fresh disco dead flavor.
Smooth, silky, and that unique silvery June '76 Garcia sound.
2Let It Grow
Super Sweet Version From an Amazing Show!!
A subtle beauty. Just a bit of swagger, just a bit of grit, lots of fine singing, and an acqueous solo for the ages.
2The Music Never Stopped
Really short, but very tight. Jerry ends with a cascading riff that sounds like spotaneous composition. Anyone know if they played this jam again?
1Not Fade Away
Jam starts to bubble and boil and rolls on with great creative force. Very cool '76 sound, and a great mix with Bobby and Phil interaction on display
1Samson and Delilah
Swaggering gospel here, with all the muscle and might befitting the song. Bobby's having a blast.
2Friend of the Devil
I won't say best, but there's a very cool Hawaiian vibe with Jerry and Bobby backing Keith's solo around the fifth minute.
Cool Sugar Mag>Scarlet Begonias>SSDD sammy. Is this the only one like it? The SSDD kicks ass.
Great standalone sandwiched between a Sugar Mag and her Sunshine Daydream. Nice combo.
2It Must Have Been The Roses
While we're at it...
