Can’t believe no one has posted here in 6 years. Man I love this set of sweet acoustic music, really sublime and mesmerizing. All the songs are terrific!

This recording is very, very good. Had 1st row balcony for both the first and second nights of this run. Had crazy ass friends who went to EVERY night, then off to New Orleans and New York.....

Acoustic set is as pristine a set as we had ever heard. Most of us were floored after Birdsong, and went along for the ride from that moment on. Ripple just melted each and every one of us.

Electrically, which is not here, ah.....the ship of fools.....
Jerry's mic went out and the crowd sang for him....you can here it on the other recordings...

Keeper for sure...a true "moment" in those lives who were able to get tix for this night.

These shows were fantastic..I saw a few of the Radio City shows as I was back on the est Cpast for a few years there..saw the Dead at the Eafield in '82 and '83 and Garcia there a few times but not the Dead. This is a must have listen, pure Americana. I was one of those Heads L Rosley imagined about, my first show was in '72 and seeing things like Bird Song and To Lay Me Down again, and acoustic, was a mind blower. All of the other stuff we had never heard before, all traditional songs. Except Deep Elem, Rosalie McFall and Dark Hollow which they were doing in the 1970 acoustic sets. Hearing China Doll acoustic, Jack-a-Roe, Cassidy. All so exquisitely done. Real glad I saw Heaven Help the Fool live. Us Heads were given a great gift that Fall. As for the reviewer who commented on Garcia talking, that was no big deal whatsoever. Some of his comments during the '70 and '80 acoustic sets were just great, happened all the time.

Once the band is playing, I can't hear hiss at all.

I love when after the Bird Song, which might be the first acoustic one (first 1980 acoustic set?), Jerry says, in responce to screaming hysterical audience members "We just figured what the fuck. might as well try it out."

The boys were having just as much fun redefining these standards and rarities as the audience did hearing them. Any who saw these shows knew of their magic.

What an amazing few songs!

First time I heard All Around the World and it was so sweet.

Ripple was what it should be strong and mellow.

The recording for this is clean and crisp.

Every song in this list deserves accolades.

I only wish I wasn't at work so I could plug in some earphones,grab a doobie and enjoy it over and over again. I will when I get home.

Where is the SBD for the the rest?

I hear spot on lyrics, incredible musicians @ work/play joined by an ecstatic audience just licking up every note, oh yeah, and a damn clear soundboard recording of the start of one of the most incredible run of shows in the history of rock and roll....................you must be awfully picky and jaded to ONLY listen to this set for "historical" reasons. Remember what it was like to NOT have access to almost every damn show these boys played in one lump sum and you might come up with something other than a 3 star rating, I would sure hope. If you get confused...LISTEN to the music play, Mellowman! This set is incredible--crisp, energetic---the spice of life, my friend...Great, great set!!!

When I listen to this, I hear static on top of Jerry. So I agree it is worth a listen for historical reasons, but with so many other high quality shows I am not sure it deserves 5 stars.

In addition to the revivals mentioned by the previous reviewer, this is the first All Around This World in 10 years!

This recording is worth listening to if only for the pure historical interest alone. Imagine being a dedicated Deadhead and hearing these old songs being played for the first time in many years. We also get an accoustic Must have Been the Roses. Not only that, but the shows of this month are the first accoustic sets in many years. I certainly haven't heard every Dead show from the '70's, but I have listened to a hundred or so. The most recent previous accoustic set before these that I'm aware of was in 1970.

But this set is more than historical interest: It's a near perfect accoustic set. Beautiful vocals, spot on instrumentals.

I can't believe that this doesn't have more reviews.

Postscript: speaking of historic, the Warfield, on Market St. in San Francisco, was host to performers like Al Jolson in the 1920's. The old vaudeville hall is alive and well at 84 years old.

First Birdsong in 7 years, first Ripple in 9 years, and first Monkey and the Engineer in 10 years). Great stuff.

ItÃÂs just stupid how good these Warfield recording are. The sound quality is unbelievable. The playing some of the best. ItÃÂs acoustic, itÃÂs the Warfield, itÃÂs awesome!

If I had a time machine, I'd go here. If I had the whole soundboard, I'd release it.
