What was really unique about this show is that Nixon would resign about 9 days later. This show contained and was aimed at the sons and daughters of all the DC politicians, proletariats and anyone else who worked in Washington. When they did US Blues, the place went NUTS. I was at this show and it was just so GREAT and more than that-SIGNIFICANT.

I have always loved the 1973-74 era. Mickey was on hiatus and Billy was solo. Now, don't get me wrong, I LOVE Mickey, but the band was more concise and clean with just Billy. This show is beautifully played and Keith is just amazing. when he is on, he is ON! Sounds like the band was having a great time and really stretching out. Love the 2nd set Peggy-O.

the LIG from this show is defiantly one of the best i've heard; everyone is firing on all cylinders.

the 2nd set he's gone>truckin>O1>Spanish was also very nice though i've admittedly heard better. spanish jam was the best moment, could be a top version of that song.

Grate show. Grate recording. oh uh um ah is right. 1974 was a crappy year for the country. Gasoline was rationed. You could only buy five gallons at a time. You would think we would have learned our lesson and found alteritive energy sources. The big oil companies own our government. Seems to me like we've been sliding downhill ever since the mid nineteen seventies.

Danny Likey. 99.9% certain Garcia sings "come trippin' down the stairs" throughout the whole stairs verse.

PS: 74 was kinda horrible...first arab oil embargo. Gas shortage!...they told us....we're running out of oil...well that was 35 years ago and the oil is still flowin' how bout dat?

Brian Jones, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Pigpen, and many others have been long dead by 74...the whole scene was gone...altered forever...the economy was tanking.

The days of cheap rents, gas, cigarettes, and cars are just about dead. The simple easy life in America is about to be murdered in the mid 70's.

that they play Peggy-O near the very end of the show. Peggy-O is typically a first set show, almost exclusively played then. Not in the second set, and definitely not after Wharf Rat and Around and Around

The end-of-show material after Wharf Rat is tight and very well played. Around and Around is often a throw-away, we're-almost-done song, but here is worth listening to. Nice US Blues. And it is a good Sugar Magnolia, as someone pointed out. (Jerry leaves out some of the verses on Peggy-O, though. Bob forgets the lyrics on Truckin.)

Some good performances at the beginning, too. Let It Grow starts out a little tired, but heats up. Overall, an enjoyable show.

Listen to the Dr. this show is smoking, great cumberland, sugaree, UNBELIEVABLY BLISTERINGLY HOT LET IT GROW - I WAS BANGING MY FEET ON THE FLOOR JERRY DOES NOT LET UP.... I think this and Louisville are hands down the best on this site... The other one is long & rambling with a spanish jam that sounds like Joey Santiago from The Pixies - There is something in this for everyone believe me... Great Sugar Mag++

This will take you back. The WRS is really nice and the second set is some good shiot. Great sound, some hiss (very minimal in Set I), but download worthy for surrrre.

An unrecognized show? Although I've heard some great new ones from 74, this one still stands up well, and I'm surprised more folks don't know about it. The first set is STRONG, and except for El Paso, no dumb Bobby songs! Jerry is the dominant force here, on Scarlet, Sugaree, Cumberland and Lay Me Down. The Let it Grow is well jammed, with nice keyboard from Keith. But Set 2 is where they really cook up something special. He's Gone>Truckin>Fault>Other One and Spanish Jam is one long sonic soundscape, lasting over 30 minutes before finally coming down to earth on Wharf Rat. Jerry's guitar here is wilder and more uninhibited than in most 74 shows - Hendrix style! And how about a rare early Peggy-O?
Then they rock out the rest of the show. A great show that belongs in your 74 collection. You've heard the classics, now try this one! Recommended.
