I think this is a pretty brilliant show, though slightly understated in patches. I was on a little bit of this tour: liked it. Nice recording!

I was there with my sister, who toured with the Dead for five years...and friends. We dropped some really nice LSD. To say the least, it was a bomb.
...
The show, overall, was amazing. I specifically remember the Birdsong, Masterpiece and Terrapin to be the major highlights. Not to diminish the Drums, which including a train coming through the stadium (it felt real) and needless to say it blew everyones minds. It really felt like cosmic consciousness was one for me. In that sense, my limited experiences with live GD (8 shows) culminated into what I consider to me the ultimate goal. Everyone connected. Ill never forget this show as long as I live.

Little help, was this not the show when they cleared the floor after the opening gig, think it was Los Lobos, and staged us all in the turnstyles?

it's a great recording if you like hearing the audience right below the microphones talking during songs, whistling and yelling "Woo-Hoo!" intermittently...

One thing that hasn't been mentioned is that there was a blazing full moon out there, with Jerry looking right at it... we knew SOTM was going to be special
...
that night... and Jerry didn't dissapoint... one of my favorite SOTMs... they even put the moon up on the screens as it was being played...

way to use the review function to tell everyone how awesome you are and to show off yore awsum speling skilz...
onto the show...some nice moments, especially ... pre-drums, but a generally pedestrian effort. very short first set...nice long birdsong to make up for it though...
i actually sat behind stage for this one and really enjoyed it...mellow vibe back there and a unique view of the band while they played...
the previous night was better, and the 20th at RFK is even better yet

Subject: Begining of the end for me
This was the begining of the end for me for Dead shows. I had seen them since '78 and thought they were slow and sloppy than. Than they got much better
...
after dumping Keith & Donna. Than they got progressivley worse; got better again with Hornsby and than never recovered after Hornsby left. I still went to shows until the end, my last memory seeing an awlful "Unbroken Chain" at Shoreline (Mt View, CA) in 1995. Jerry & Weir just didn't have it anymore. If they had made an effort to put some more tunes in the lineup and practice I might have been happier, but many of there gigs were just live practices that didn't go too well. As a professionally jazz guitarist for 35 years I have never understood how one night they could be so on and the next night they could suck. Perhaps they kept it that way so people would keep coming just to see they show that was awesome in between all the clutter. I still think they were the best band ever, but their time had come soon after these Giant Stadium shows.

balloons before the show (good for a 15yr old brain) - must be ingested sitting down!!! Inside, we jumped the wall and proceeded to climb over the seats until we were in the front row, right as the band took the stage!?! I still can't believe it. After a couple tunes I roamed back, found my girlfriend (somehow), made out for what seemed like hours, boogied down, smoked herb, boogied some more and made out some more. On the way out, everyone singing in the halls, 'love is love and not fade awaw.' I had been a GD fan since i was 11years old, but this was clearly something special, somewhere i knew I belonged and had to come back to as much as possible. I'll be the first to admit I got a late start and '92 - '95 cannot even be mentioned in the same sentence as say '77 or '78, but I can say I found my family, I found my spirit enriched and the GD to this day remain the best damn thing. All critical critiques aside, I was baptised that night, my mind opened. I was given something to believe in. Thank you thank you thank you is all i can say...

Wasn't nearly as epic as 91 Giants, but very well played. SMR is a highlight! Check out the one from 6-8-92 as well, very tasty!

Subject: Mellow, but never boring!
The 14th and 15th at Giant's Stadium were a very groovy couple of nights. The band settled in to a slow burn, understanding that the stadium was hyper.
...
I remember watching people literally fall over the wall like water at the back of the floor, pulling their friend's one arm while security pulled the other, and I saw at least one person get really hurt. So "Sugaree" was very welcome, as was "Bird Song" to close the set. "Saint" and "Terrapin" are the highlights of any show, and mother nature (or more accurately the land fills) chipped in with amazing pink and purple skies each night. This was one of those nights when I sat way up high, settled back, and just let go to the music. I'm very happy to find this show after so many years! The recording is great, although Jerry is a little low in the mix due to strong vocals and Phil's deep thump.

seen the Dead. All of these songs I've seen and heard much better versions of. I was however, pleasantly surprised to hear a new song, "So Many Roads," that I liked and that Jerry REALLY belted out.
I would download the "So Many Roads" from this show and skip the rest, personally. Cool airhorns though.
2/22/06: I'm amending my review of this show after listening to it - the "Bird Song" is incredible. I think my lousy attitude towards this show is due to where my head was at at the time - I wasn't interested in seeing shows anymore, and I had seen my Dark Stars, my Attics, my Help>Slip>Frank and I felt that I could now die in peace.
All in all, not a bad show and a really good quality audience recording, this one is.
