Awesome show!
Great from the 1st note to the last.
The Slip Knot took me out to the far reaches of the universe and reveled a glimpse of the mechanical inner workings for a brief second.
I'm glad I downloaded this years ago before Phil had these SBD taken down.
Merriweather is a special place.

Signs and Wonders
Estimated Prophet coagulates from simple elements and grows into a temple. It was less a work in progress than a species evolving, shifting its shape via random mutations or cryptic teleology. It’s vaguely Dark Star-ish in this respect, only more structured, a fragile haiku splitting its seems.

Great Night
Drove 10 hrs to see this show with 2 buddies. We'd just graduated high school. Told our folks we were going camping and busted a move down to Merriweather in a crappy ford fiesta with a radar detector and much contraband. The second set was one of the best if not the best that I ever witnessed. Quintessential Help Slip Frank. When they lit into Why Don't We Do It In The Road the place went literally insane. You had to be there, and I'm glad I was.

Do it in the road
This is a crisp soundboard, one of the best I've heard on this site and worth the download. I remember the "do it in the road" was a big deal at the time simply because Phil was singing and it was always fun when they did something out of the ordinary - usually indicative that they were having fun. Not the best show musically but alot of fun at a great venue.

Jerry's voice.....
Who cares if Jerry's voice isn't up to par?His playing speaks larger volumes in Eyes,so what if his voice is a little raspy? Listened to this show this morning while checking out
blotterart.net.Wow,brought back lots of old memories and affirmed to me again that spending 2/3's of a decade in the federal pen for distributing the (L)ysergic (S)oaked (D)ream was all worth it and at least life had more hope in it with the Grateful Dead machine rolling in it than living in these Bushit times.

Jerry's voice
is pretty typical for 1984. This was the year that he really began to let himself go physically. Don't get me wrong, there were some great shows in 84...most notably syracuse (imo)on 10/20 (although I don't like to recommend shows since we all have different tastes). It was the year that the insulting "Fat Man Rocks" bumper stickers began to appear. There were beautiful days for these very solid shows and even Casey made a stop the night before. I even saw the Wendy's "Where's the Beef" lady at a public appearance at a nearby mall. The spring hampton & philly shows were nice that year also; can't comment on any of the west coast shows for 84 since I saw none. All in all, a 4 for sound quality and a 4 for show quality.

on Eyes of the World is not that good. He has sung better in 84.
Sound quality is above average for a soundboard. 4 stars.

it is my opinion that this venue really brought out the dead's love for their fans. The sound was so good and the surroundings were so beautiful they just wanted to play forever but were probably rushed off stage

Third Show
I did not apppreciate how good this show was at the time, but 22 years later hearing this again - WOW!!!
Sound quality great. First set has a mellow quality
reminiscent of 76. Second set help>slip>frank> estimated>eyes not a bad line up. It ain't May 77, but what is.

Friend of the devil
'Friend of the devil' is one of the best in quite a while. It's up there with the 'Deadset' version. Deep rich sound and very little hiss. A great listen with the lights down.

GD 6/27/84
Nice recording. Merriweather's a real treat for DC folk. The deep orchestra and rippin sound from the MD suburbs...
At one of these shows I got a pretty bad dose of poison ivy -- peeing in the woods on that path into the place. The girl I was with got it even worse - squatting in the ivy -- sick for two weeks - ouch!
But looking back from 2006 - almost 22 YEARS later (wow) nothing but smiles and good memories come to mind...

a true 84 gem
what a great venue. i think they only played 6 shows there. 2 nites each 83--85... i was at 84 and 85, and those all are good shows, but this second set is incredible.
help slip frank's is tight and loose and complex... barely holding it together and yet finding their way thru this maze of slipknot... i don't know when it happened, but i feel like this trio dropped off the playlist radar shortly after this show...
but the best part of this set is post drums. the space>dew is huge and powerful, quiet and peaceful... brent powering an awesome finish, jerry's voice hadn't yet failed him... and the throwin>not fade are both way way above average... totally tight and rockin.
a super-poignant brokedown closer was a great finish.
84 was a flukey year... this is a true gem

Then picks up a good head of steam with a smoking cumberland, very hot loser(listen to Brent), long & great let it grow.
Trippy space into morning dew is a nice rarity, the other time they did that was UVM 4/13/83 this one is really soulful and sweet. Superior sound quality prob one of the best I have heard here.

This was an awesome show.
We, friends who only went if I got them tickets and spouse attended. We had 4th row seats. I could hear Jack Straw every show and not tire of it. The Help->Slip->Frank is great. One thing of note, I had trouble expanding the
d1t01.shn and had to substitute one of the mp3's.
