find the best versions of grateful dead songs
Grateful Dead July 12, 1976
Orpheum Theater San Francisco, CA | Listen on archive
This whole show rips your face right off...just rockin' with balls-out energy. A great top notch Deal
2Samson and Delilah
Jerry is totally feelin' it.it's really not fair how hot he is.the band seems to be on the same level, and this Samson rips. Incredibly subtle as well
2Lazy Lightnin' -> Supplication
The meat of this version is in the powerful transition between the two songs, driven home with authority by the entire band.
8Help On The Way > Slipknot > Franklin's Tower
Magnificent with a typically heady 1976 slipknot, jazzy and funky great 76 sound on this version.
Smooth highway. Bobby and Donna in sweet harmony, and with that whiff of grace that marks the best versions of Cassidy out there.
2New Minglewood Blues
Comes storming out the gate after 5 years on the shelf. The Devils drive this one, but everyone is on, up, and jumping.
Kicks off a the second set with a jam that creeps up on you and is suddenly shredding. Cool opener in an under-the-radar show.
4Dancin' in the Streets
On of the post-haitus ones that stretch and groove and go every-which-way. What a treat.
Smooth running, out of a very cool, thematically coherent Drums. Beautiful harmonies. Every Wheel is an elegant treat from '76, and this is a beaut.
Spare, almost vulnerable take on this classic. Godchaux brings the church and Garcia brings the stained glass. An American beauty.
1Eyes Of The World
Soundcheck! Excellent sound on source provided & brilliant flowing ripping Garcia leads. Classic '76 "backwards" version.
1976: Your standard issue tipsy, warm-hearted TJ of the period. The guitar break is more conversation than guitar solo. Standard but special.
