Ned Lagin...
Significant that this was the first show Ned Lagin had sat in with the band since August of '71. He's playing on the Dark Star>Brokedown Palace. Perhaps
...
that's why this DS is so epic...

Dark Star
not one of the best versions of '72 imo (for that, check out 4/8, 4/24 and 9/21) but the ending jam transitioning in brokedown makes this worth the listen
...
alone...unlike what one of the other reviewers said i think this version has plenty of Space (not a bad thing necessarily) after which things really start to get cohesive.

Not a Great Night for Phil
Jerry is all over this show, Dark Star is Prime Jerry ripping killer leads in a multi-dimensional fashion as usual for 1972. The major bummer here is Phil
...
took the night off. Looking for killer bass playing, looks else where frankly Phil is real dull on this show surprising considering the year.

Smoke, but
This one is great, "typical" for Sept. 72, but the vocals are a little loud compared to the music.

Short but Sweet, pt.2
This along with the 30min from the night before are well worth the download. I know these aren't complete shows but the sdbd recordings as well as the
...
jams are great. This recording starts with a smoking Playin'.....great wah-wah by Jerry. After a decent Morning Dew and Greatest, a Dark Star emerges complete with jazzy overtones. This particular Star has very little space and plenty of jamming that spans 26min. If you're not into spacy meltdowns, then you may want to skip this. All memebers are fully engaged into some serious jamming. Combine this with the 15th sdbd for a great 2cd set!
