Grateful Dead Dec. 31, 1972
Winterland Arena San Francisco, CA | Listen on archive
Epic version from an epic show!
A groovin' hot version.
19The Other One
Monstrous version emerging out of Truckin'. Includes Stephen Stills on guitar.
3Sing Me Back Home
Cant beat this New Years Eve vocals are perfect and spot on!!!!
Quick and Energetic
David Crosby's rhythm guitar gives this a unique sound. It reminds me of the old "Juicy Fruit" commercials.
10Playin' In The Band
Searing and expansive. Hot as can be
Man, could they tear this song up or what!!
2Around and Around
NYE opener, hot early version
2Box of Rain
Sweet NYE early version of Box of Rain. Wonderful unheralded NYE show, nice clean recording up on archive, nice show.
2Johnny B. Goode
Ripping and rocking set two NYE ender, early new years morning. Must have been a great time.
They really tore into this tune in 1972 this NYE version is no exception, Great Phil bombs throughout, hot guitar solo. Short but ripping everyone on!
1One More Saturday Night
Screaming and ripping this NYE show to a brillant powerful close at the local skating rink. A powerhouse performance for a powerhouse show!
A super-fun frolicing romp. They just seem to have loved playing this tune.
2Brown Eyed Women
Dec. '72 turns out to be a nice little peak for BEW. Perfect shuffle, air-play tightness, great soloing, just enough country. Bobby nicely audible.
Like every other song in the first set, this is just pristine, air-play level perfection. Beautiful fills by Keith here, too.
1Uncle John's Band
Uptempo, powerful, strong vocals. This is top shelf UJB. With David Crosby for that extra oomph, and with a tigh outro, it's strangely not here yet.
Trippy underwater solo like the 2/24/73 version. Only a couple months away and the resurrection of this tune starting up.
1Don't Ease Me In
Ah the joy, in them tearing it up and us getting to listen!
1Mississippi Halfstep Uptown Toodeloo
the only maxwell XL-II I ever wore out
