Goin' Down The Road Feelin' Bad
March 24, 1971
Winterland Arena
“Don’t wanna be beaten this old way…” Shorter, with just a single solo, but extremely powerful performance that could have been on Skull N Roses

The Wheel

Boston Garden
Perfect from start to finish, arising from fiery post-Eyes drums, quickly sidestepping to more abstract jams, and leading into strong Wharf Rat. Possibly the peak of this very famous show.

Great American Music Hall
Of the many country/western tunes that Jerry ever soloed over, I think this is one of his best.
Big Boss Man

Olympia Theater
Jerry shows Parisians who's boss.
Big River

Universal Amphitheatre
Jerry totally letting his Bluegrass chops take over- these solos are just insane! Hunter Seamons matrix sounds great.
Brown Eyed Women

Olympia Theater
just lovely. it's funny to think that after 4/14 Tivoli (take 3 and ultimately the master take for the album), the band didn't feel like playing this tune for like 3 weeks. must've decided no point after they already got the definitive recording! but this is just as special as 4/14; check out Pigpen's organ.
