Great vocals from Bobby (minus the ending of this song, which is, you know lol) Solid one

This here's kinda a get-down song, I must admit.

Bouncy little Minglewood. Some neat runs by Garcia. His tone is interesting.

Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain
March 10, 1981
Madison Square Garden

Good Scarlet, then that intro to Fire tell you something good's coming. Drummers are locked into this hyper-groovy pattern with Brent that Garcia taps into in the first jam. He gets pretty exploratory in the rest of this jam. And wonderful vocals, minus a flub here and there. Brent starts to chase him at the end jam, which I have a theory he really didn't like, because that's always when he really goes off the rails and breaks out of whatever he was locked into, which presents itself at the absolutely wild jam that Garcia leads at the end of this tune and results in a really unique ending and cool transition into Lose Sailor here. Really nice stuff.

Mega mega fun on this one!
Wharf Rat
April 22, 1978
Nashville Municipal Auditorium

Weir & Lesh are exactly where they need to be to start off this excellent Wharf Rat. The band is really building an atmosphere in that first verse. Then, the "but i'll get back verse" comes and smacks you hard. They are all the way locked in. "I'll get up and fly away" was one of the eeriest interpretations I've heard of that verse. Listen to those drums & Lesh. That middle jam is gargantuan. Keith, drums, and Weir are supporting Garcia well. Then if you didn't think it was enough, they all go running with their pants on fire into the final jam. Everyone is balls to the wall. Sounds really dire.

They work into some nice, hot jamming here all around.
