Fine, soulful performance. Garcia sings "in a world time forgot" instead of "that guitars never caught." Alternate lyric they maybe wanted to put.

Let It Grow
Oct. 29, 1977
Evans Field House, Northern Illinois University

A true beast. Perhaps the best standalone Let It Grow they performed. Everyone on their a-game. Drummers coming through with fury. Garcia’s first solo goes from urgent to graceful, then an awesome rise and fall verse leads to a jam that I can only describe as full of sheer cinematic beauty from the entire band.

Great one. Lesh, afterward tells the crowd, “I just wanted y’all to know… this is the happiest day of life.” :) <3

Short and sweet, beautiful '76 Playin'. It's been said, I'll say again, Garcia's '76 tone is just really something special.

I super duper love '76 St Stephens. Such wonderful, ethereal jamming. This one is no different.
Help On The Way > Slipknot > Franklin's Tower
Aug. 13, 1975
Great American Music Hall

Super overhyped in my humble opinion. I find this one to be precise and highly energetic, but ultimately extremely clinical, perhaps because it was a super early version. Basically sounds like a run-through of their new material. May 9, 1977 and June 9, 1977 go back and forth for my favorite ever. 2.26.77 has a real standout Slipknot, much more bright-eyed than the one here IMHO. 10/6/76 has a much stronger Franklin's than this as well, with a more exploratory sequence as a whole.
