Let It Grow
Sept. 15, 1973
Providence Civic Center

Phil's rippling fills. Full horns. At 8:00 a wild turkey (???) starts gobbling next to a mic and Jer responds mid-solo. Weird, chaotic and shredding.

Weather Report Suite
Sept. 15, 1973
Providence Civic Center

Historical oddity. Flute accompanyment to part one and full horn section throughout. Not everyone's cup of tea, but interesting.

Truckin'
Sept. 15, 1973
Providence Civic Center

An oddity. A ballsy Truckin' with full horn section. Weird fun in its odd way from a forgotten show.

Bird Song
Sept. 15, 1973
Providence Civic Center

This one and the one 3 days earlier are both inventive and experimental - really soaring. Rough AUD though.

Tennessee Jed
Sept. 15, 1973
Providence Civic Center

1st set suffers from rough AUD, but this Jed soars. Jer rages, building it into a triumph. Headphones only.

Dancin' in the Streets
July 12, 1970
Fillmore East

Rises and rises into new shapes during the last minutes, but there's an unfortunate cut....
Cocaine Habit Blues
July 12, 1970
Fillmore East

Almost makes cocaine seem olde-timey and innocent.
Bird Song
Feb. 23, 1971
Capitol Theater

Just exactly perfect. Sweet vocals, beautiful harmonies, nice mix - thank's tapers! Jerry's solo about 3 minutes in is quite different from others, exploring block chord voicings and an angular twanging clanging thang that sounds almost... Bobbyish(?!?), but it's Jer, and it fits perfectly.
Bertha
Nov. 24, 1972
Dallas Memorial Auditorium

Jer's guitar tone is sublime. He's burnin' down the world here.
Black Throated Wind
Nov. 24, 1972
Dallas Memorial Auditorium

Good catch. Jerry's fills around Bobby's lyrical phrasing and the exquisite tone he was getting out of his axe make this one really special. The two are totally synched up and this one could be way higher on the list. The way they build up towards the climax is brilliant.
