Very mellow cowboy ballad, like the great Nov. 8th '70 above. Check 'er out. They were experimenting with it here.

Beautiful acoustic version. The whole first set is one exquisite jewel after another.

After some rowdy banter the good old GD pull out a magical beauty here. Acoustic fans shouldn't overlook this one!

Pretty unknown show, but this FoTD is just perfect. Some sound issues around the edges, but here Jer's voice is angelic and sweet.

One of the under-appreciated masterpieces of the Dead canon, this one stretches out nicely. Mellow, but adventurous. Love this one.

Cryptical Envelopment

Fantastic outro from a jamming TOO, right around when they switched from focusing on Cryptical to TOO. This one is a simmering soundscape. AUD phobes should not pass up this one, the whole show is emblematic of the era, and a great representation of what the boys could do in 1970.

But this one isn't relaxed at all. This is hard-rockin' Outlaw Dead. Ballsy vocals and a 1500 cc chopper of a jam. Plus you get to hear Pigpen curse at Bear afterward. Hard driving. Not chill.

I'm referring here to the Bunjes and Tuete link and haven't had time to go through each version on the Archive. To note as well that the first 20 seconds are an AUD patch, so presumably there's a complete version in B/B- quality out there too. In any case enjoys it brothers and sisters, it's a rare beauty.
