Sugar Magnolia

2nd ever in a triple Dark Star sandwich. Choral singing, not fully developed but part of some of the best damned Dead you'll ever hear. Believe me.

Acoustic version, beautiful and tight. Don't miss the acoustic set in the rush to the late show.

Energetic and tight with great harmonies and strong soloing.

Black Throated Wind

Damned strong version building up nicely to the towering triumph, "you've done better by me than I've done by you". Strong stuff.

Bursting energy ending the 1st set in blazing glory. The shout chorus is outrageously hot. Has to be one of Donna's best nights ever.

Deserves more love. Let It Grow just blasts off and leaves your jaw dropped. Hot hot stuff.

48 minute jam starts with Phil and Ned at their tweekiest. You've been warned, if that isn't your bag. (Not me, though, I dig that electric weirdness - you couldn't squeeze my pupils down to normal size even if you tried....)
Playin' In The Band

Winterland Arena

Drops you through the wormhole right quick, this one. Not a beginner's 'Playin' by any stretch. (Don't try to convince a Dead skeptic with this big beast, oh no.) Goes in and through and out of many dark places, but the whole show is full of very outré jams and this really sets the tone for a big big show.

There's a whole lotta music in here. Listened to it over and over, still finding new things in there. Outstanding, driven, tight and right.

Goddamned double posts again. Sorry.
