Never thought I'd dig this song so much. They're just so on this whole night (week actually).

Embryonic "Fire" in the "soundcheck jam" into Wharf Rat. Not a full FTM, but of amazing Deadfulness and not listed elsewhere. Check it out!

Hardly recognisable for anyone familiar with the acoustic versions, but an absolute pleasure.

Inventive, energetic and fun. A beaut from one of the great months.

"Burn down the Fillmore gas the Avalon". Did I hear Bobby right around 2:35??? To answer my own question, it appears that Bobby started this as a dig at other venues when they were co-running the Carousel. These lines don't appear on Anthem.
The Eleven
Aug. 23, 1968
Shrine Auditorium

Pure, clean high-flying jam. Mind-blowing how well they played in 11/4 without spontaneously combusting. Pig's organ never sounded so much like the organ on Dylan's "Like a Rolling Stone". More early traces of the Bard's influence on the boys?
Eyes Of The World

Nassau Coliseum

Great 2nd set, yes, but this Eyes takes it well furthur... It's got everything - blazing, soaring and blisteringly fast. Really tops.
