Black Throated Wind
Dec. 6, 1973
Public Hall

Perfectly executed arc of mounting emotions in this great version. The band is so tight throughout this show.

Uncle John's Band
Dec. 1, 1973
Music Hall

Righteous beauty from probably the most seriously overlooked show from '73 (surrounded by the big beasts in Boston) inside a Playin' just soooo good.

Playin' In The Band
Dec. 1, 1973
Music Hall

Outrageous oversight that this crystal clear beauty isn't here. Bobby's vocals, brilliant ensemble playing, glorious UJB in the sandwich. DIG IT!!!

They Love Each Other
Dec. 1, 1973
Music Hall

Great version, yeah its Boston '73. But probably the best Stage Banter ever: Check out 09:49 explaining why they aren't going to play St. Stephen.

Loser
Nov. 23, 1973
County Coliseum

Nov. '73 and there isn't a bad show in it. This Loser has something special in its tightness and the tempo (doesn't drag). Damn they were good.

Cold Rain and Snow
March 25, 1966
Trouper's Hall

Apparently Bear was recording this to be played back on mono, so the organ jam would be featured but not so explosive. Whodathunkit? In any case, this is just so fucking brilliant that I want to jump in my time machine and zip back just to be a spectral hallucination vibrating just out of the corner of Billy's eye as he kicks the shit out of this beautiful packed-with-energy annuciato: The Dead are Coming, Here Come the Dead.
Beat it on Down The Line
March 12, 1966
Danish Center

Baby Bobby: Shimmy shimmy shake shake, baby baby baby! This is twisty rock and roller Baby Bobby stuff here. Consider for a moment that he was 18 years old at this point. Hot damn.
You Don't Love Me

Brilliant rarity.

Listening to all of '66 and this feels like the very first fully realized one.

Fans of this song need to hear this! It's down to the bare bones, young, raw and full of passion.
