Hurts Me Too
Dec. 27, 1970
Legion Stadium

Pig's vox never sounded better. Pure, fine Blue Ron soul and a rippin' set of solos, but sadly cuts out.

Good Lovin'

All about the jam. One of the mello raps of the era, and they go off in that way that says "let's do this forever". Why not here?

Friend of the Devil
Dec. 26, 1970
Legion Stadium

Sweetness in form and execution. Even the feedback from the monitors harmonises nicely. A gentle, delicate version.

King Bee
Dec. 23, 1970
Winterland Arena

Deep blues, two brilliant harp solos, great Jerry work (duh), and a Charlie Miller cleanup. Listen up!

Deep Elem Blues
Dec. 23, 1970
Winterland Arena

Starts a little funny, but has that rare electric funk quality. On the recent C. Miller cleanup, so thank you sir.

Auditorium Theatre

Sweet and delicate with beautiful orchestration towards the climax. Donna and Jerry sound glorious in the outro.
Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain
April 16, 1978
Huntington Civic Center

They get a slow start and Jerry flubs the lyrics in the Scarlet, but he more than makes up for it by going for the deep dive in the Scarlet jam before transitioning towards the Fire. The Betty Board is sublime, like everyone here sez.
Pretty Peggy O

Not a year that I'm very familiar with. I came to this show for the Dire Wolf, but it was this Peggy-O and that brilliant solo that spun me around. Very nice indeed.

Happy to blow your mind Aush. I dig your avatar.
Samson and Delilah

Tower Theatre

Perfect description. Now I'm a big fan of the one-drummer era, but I'm a deadhead from the Brent years and there are songs that are just gonzo-delicious for Bill and Mickey together. This is definitely a hot version and worth more than the 2 votes it has here.
