King Bee
July 17, 1966
Fillmore Auditorium

Pig is in perfect form, the band throbs behind him with intensity and purpose. Pristine recording.

Cream Puff War
July 17, 1966
Fillmore Auditorium

A rip-snortin' wild ride. Not as stretched out as the day before, but still an explosive starting pistol at the earliest days of the Dead.

Owsley's House (rehearsal)?

Rare and obscure, on the Archive at gd1966-06-01.136642.watts.sbd.mr.dat48k.sirmick.flac16

I Know You Rider
March 12, 1966
Danish Center

Still in its infancy, but listen to Jerry swarming all over it like ten thousand honey bees. Lightning fast, almost a "let's do this for 50 years".

Who Do You Love
March 9, 1966
Owsley's House (rehearsal)

Pig is on fire and the band revs to 6000 rpm. Jerry's tone is a shredding crisp fist full of razor blades.

Brown Eyed Women
April 14, 1972
Tivolis Koncertsal

An absolute beauty, note-for-note perfect and deserving all its praise. This is the FM airplay quality of the Dead's live work that turned on all Europe. Tivolis is arguably my favourite all-round concert from the '72 Europe tour.
U.S. Blues (Wave That Flag)

Nassau Coliseum

Best banter of the year? Jerry tells people to stop throwing joints on the stage and 'light 'em up and pass them around' instead. Bobby claims they were going to wear gorilla suits but they lost the key to the wardrobe.... Seems like everyone was having a good old time.

Insane rager. The sound quality is muffled, so this beast should be best heard on headphones. This one might be even more fun than the brilliant one just before this 04/27. They keep taking it higher and higher, stepping up intensity until the crowd sounds like they're in an ecstasy. Spring '77... it really is just that good.

Agreed that this would really benefit from a SBD or matrix. I'm no AUD-phobe and love the warm sense of being there you can get only from the tapers, but hearing that crowd roar at the vocal peaks, hearing the harmonies Donna sneaks in behind Jerry, getting a better mix together for Bobby, or a less compressed sound and this one goes to the very top.

Upvoting Freedomhaul's perfect comment. This is Barlow and Bobby's crowning achievement.
