Black Throated Wind

Perfectly executed arc of mounting emotions in this great version. The band is so tight throughout this show.

Uncle John's Band

Righteous beauty from probably the most seriously overlooked show from '73 (surrounded by the big beasts in Boston) inside a Playin' just soooo good.

Playin' In The Band

Outrageous oversight that this crystal clear beauty isn't here. Bobby's vocals, brilliant ensemble playing, glorious UJB in the sandwich. DIG IT!!!

They Love Each Other

Music Hall

Great version, yeah its Boston '73. But probably the best Stage Banter ever: Check out 09:49 explaining why they aren't going to play St. Stephen.

Loser
Nov. 23, 1973
County Coliseum

Nov. '73 and there isn't a bad show in it. This Loser has something special in its tightness and the tempo (doesn't drag). Damn they were good.

Great transition from CC too. There are a slight tuning issues though, though it's hard to hear on my system whether it comes from a slight tape wobble, or if both Bobby and Jerry have pulled flat in their upper registers.
Scarlet Begonias

I'd take the Charlie Miller remix over the link on this one. Seems a bit richer, less tinny. As for the music. Ohhhhhh, yes, this is the love. Reading the comments here, I'd say one thing overlooked is just how brilliantly Phil drives this from below throughout. That said, I like the Oct. 9th more for inventiveness and extended jams. Nothin' quite like that monster sound from '74, though.
Black Throated Wind

Should be much higher on the list. Bobby's at his most primal, Jerry soloing at a million miles per hour, and the whole band rising up to the explosive climax. Hot stuff.

RoR rarely rates by me, but this one stands out for its extra oomph and brilliant vocals. This whole show/run is tremendous.
