Not Fade Away
July 17, 1976
Orpheum Theatre

Smoldering hot and long jam capping a great 2nd set. The kind of jam you want to go on forever.

Beat it on Down The Line

Auditorium Theatre

Listen in and hear exactly where Jerry's fingers achieve terminal velocity. Keith's first shows have manic wild energy, lots of fun.

The Other One

Northrop Auditorium, U. of Minn.

Hard charging power here in 24 minutes of explosive dark matter. It's a massive oversight that this show hasn't been more widely appreciated.

Brokedown Palace

Northrop Auditorium, U. of Minn.

Stunning. Beautiful harmonies, strong pulse, Keith roars in like they know in advance what he brings. Show needs more love.

Playin' In The Band
Oct. 19, 1971
Northrop Auditorium, U. of Minn.

Massive transitional masterpiece. 1st with Keith, and he's the missing ingredient that tips PiTB over the edge into its full glory. Great mix.

China Cat Sunflower -> I Know You Rider
Aug. 24, 1972
Berkeley Community Theatre

Peak Dead all week long, but this show (and the incomplete 25th) are just note for note perfect all round. This one is a stunner.

Not really a complete song, more like a short jam section of the NFA>GDTRFB>NFA, (same chords, same hambone, same clavé....) but very cool all the same. Very cool indeed.
Truckin'
April 18, 1971
Lusk Field House - State University Of New York

Some wobbly vocals, which may be a tape speed problem (?), but a crunching, blistering solo from Jerry and a "fun-was-had-by-all" feelgood party feeling to it, warts and all.
Truckin'

The Spectrum

Cucamonga's right. This is special. The whole set is one continuous jam, which after a pretty spaced-out Playin' and a looooooooooong d/s leads into this fun run through a different approach to Truckin'.
The Other One

Constantly inventive, at times chaotic, at other times spontaneously melodic: a beautiful long ride with many twists and turns. Beautiful one-of-a-kind (correct me if I'm wrong guys and gals!) jam starts in around 11:20, and another one at 25:20. What a show!
