Black Peter
Jan. 2, 1970
Fillmore East (Late Show)
Low key and smooth - a real treat. Show is known for its great DS>SS>11, but give this a listen. Nice.

Hurts Me Too

Lane Community College
Despite the lo-fi tape, this has got to be some of the deepest blues they ever played. Don't let the murky recording turn you off - it's worth it.

Cruising along with 3rd° swagger when it suddently hits high gear and <BOOM!>, you become the Pig, and it feels good.

Openers this good let you know exactly how amazing the show will be. 17.04 isn't just the best Good Lovin' of all time but an all round killer show.

Big Railroad Blues

Simply the best one I know. Energetic uptempo rockin' and rollin' with a hard driving bass player named PHIL!

Truckin'

The long exploratory jam out of this is a subtle beauty. This whole suite is just fantastic.
Playin' In The Band
April 16, 1972
Aarhus University
No question about it, this one takes off like a rocket. Going through Playin's evolution in '72 is such a treat. Each one at this stage is stretching out further and furthur. This one takes on a hard-biting psychedelic edge like none before it.
Black Throated Wind
April 16, 1972
Aarhus University
The emotional crescendo and rising arc of triumphant intensity on this is spectacular. The band is tight and swells as one to the muscular climax, really bringing out what's special about this composition. Needs more votes, this one.
Looks Like Rain
April 14, 1972
Tivolis Koncertsal
Quite right, patchmyversion. I listened to this again on headphones and it's clearly Phil singing those beautiful harmonies. I rarely identify "favorite" versions, but this LLR is the GOAT for me. It's simply the standard I look for in all other versions.
Black Throated Wind

Cgarces is right. This one has that something extra. Bobby doesn't lose control, and the band is pushing against the seems in a supercharged way that just pumps up energy in what by all estimates is one hell of a great first set.
