Candyman

Almost a prayer. Stripped down, pure, harmonized and beautiful. Fans of the acoustic Candyman shouldn't pass this one by.

Don't Ease Me In

Sweet and solid show opener. A pure expression of the peak '70 year sound. Strap in and enjoy the show....

Sawmill

Yeehaw, but that's a sweet rare tune. Put Sawmill next to Slewfoot for gems from the era. Awesome stuff.

Uncle John's Band

An acoustic lovely. I think DG is there on backup. It's rough-hewn, like just a couple offriends jamming on the verge of the bad crazy 1970s.

Acoustic wow factor, with beautiful harmonies. Unfortunate gap towards the end, but worth it still.

The Other One

No doubt about it. They kick off the tour with a killer TOO, which is a stand-alone great that deserves to be higher. But considering the Playin'>Truckin> that proceeds it, it's out-and-out jaw dropping: Many faces stolen in Britain that night....
Truckin'

There are reasons why people who don't know the Dead or who've never gone to a show know Truckin'. Listen here and you get reminded why. This whole segment of Playin'>Truckin'>TOO is brilliant.
Playin' In The Band

Hollywood Bowl

This one is a minor beast, and though short, packs a whole lotta music into it.

This one is pretty fuckin' hard rock, too. Everything said above is right on. The 10 minute versions from this era have dropped all the '71 country sound, and this one also is notable for not having any The Main Ten interlude after the melody. Playin' starts to lift off from right at this point.

Best one ever, chronologically speaking. I think this shows just how hard they were working on their new songs, as each show shows new heights. The next night goes even higher, but what a pleasure it is to listen to these shows in order....
