The Other One
Nov. 16, 1970
Fillmore East
Whether it's the 16th or 23rd, it's a killerdillerthriller. Ripping version, with a perfect transition from Truckin'.

Big Railroad Blues
Nov. 16, 1970
Fillmore East
Energy and power that struts its stuff. This show seems direly overlooked. Very nice mix and sound quality.

China Cat Sunflower -> I Know You Rider
Nov. 16, 1970
Fillmore East
Beautiful jam and transition. The mix shows off Bobby nicely, which is rare for the era. His contribution is beautiful here. Enjoy.

King Bee
Nov. 16, 1970
Fillmore East
Sultry swaggering deeply opiated vibe, with a hot harp solo. Was this Pig or Will Scarlet?

Cold Rain and Snow
Nov. 16, 1970
Fillmore East
Exceptional version, slightly mellower tempo, with great harmonies and tight jamming. Surprised it's not here yet.

Not Fade Away
June 24, 1970
Capitol Theatre
Come back to it, over and over again. Opening the set like this is a beautiful statement from the band to fans.
Easy Wind
June 21, 1970
Pauley Ballroom, U. of California
Some tape speed issues in the first two tracks of this show seem resolved by the time we get to this super-charged insane rager. Pig's harp solo is top notch and Jerry blows the world to pieces with his last solo. Tape quality is pretty poor aside from the speed questions, so this is for AUD lovers only. June '70 seems where they really pulled Easy Wind together with June 5th, 13th and 24th all pretty hardcore.
Turn On Your Love Light
June 13, 1970
Red Vest
The real beast here is the experimental jam after Pig's rap. Pity the AUD is about B- quality. The first half of the show is pristine SBD, but alas, the rest is pretty degraded.
New Speedway Boogie
June 13, 1970
Red Vest
Tough-to-swallow switchover from SBD to AUD a couple of minutes in, but nevertheless worth every second. They do a slightly mellower, jazz-influenced take on it rather than the hard-drivin' bone crusher more typical of the era. I guess it's easy to mellow out in Hawaii, ya think?
Candyman
June 13, 1970
Red Vest
A subtle, understated sweetheart of an early version. Bobby and Phil's harmonies have a rare beauty here.
