The Other One
Oct. 10, 1967
Shrine Auditorium
Wild and reckless - a supernova.

Born Cross Eyed
Jan. 17, 1968
Carousel Ballroom
It rocks. A tight first Born Cross Eyed after a pretty rough New Potato Caboose. Love the '68 sound.

The Eleven
Jan. 17, 1968
Carousel Ballroom
First version, out of the first China Cat ever. Epic show. Pigpen is on fire the whole night.

Turn On Your Love Light
Jan. 17, 1968
Carousel Ballroom
Blazing start to an awe inspiring, historically massive show. It's pure. Pig and Bobby are especially fun during the hocket (vocal back and forth).

Born Cross Eyed
Jan. 20, 1968
Eureka Municipal Auditorium
Massive, sprawling, acid rock bursting at its seams. "Primal Dead" bending space-time.

Dark Star
May 15, 1970
Fillmore East (Late Show)
So nice to have Bobby clear in the mix. Some times I think that his contribution is systematically undervalued as he's so consistently lost in the mix. This one is the exception though, and watch what he does.... Just beautiful throughout it.
Friend of the Devil
May 15, 1970
Fillmore East (Late Show)
The sweetness and youth in Jerry's voice, contrasted with the desperado lyrics and the gentleness of the - yes - heartbreakingly gorgeous playing contribute to making this one 'desert island' quality.
Ain't It Crazy (The Rub)
May 15, 1970
Fillmore East (Late Show)
Plus it's acoustic Pig, which is pretty cool.
Not Fade Away
May 14, 1970
Merramec Community College
Seriously grinding rocker.
Cold Rain and Snow
May 14, 1970
Merramec Community College
Slinky and stripped down to its bare essence. This is a great version and a strong showing for those heads who dig '70 above all others.
