China Doll

Delicate an gentle - coming after a twisting rocketship of an Eyes, saying, "everything will be okay folks if we can just all come down together...."

Me and Bobby McGee

Boston Garden

Out of a 20 min mindbent HCS this is a sweet, heartfelt chillout. Great '73 sound.

Playin' In The Band
April 2, 1973
Boston Garden

An extensive, long strange trip. Hot in places, then trippy and spaced out. Fast. Phil and Jerry in total unity.

Turn On Your Love Light
Jan. 2, 1970
Fillmore East (Late Show)

Jack-a-Straw is right: this deserves much more recognition. That they had enough energy after the monumental DS>SS>11 to even attempt a Love Light is of course staggering. That they were able to blast through the firmament with a Love Light of this intensity is immortal. Give her a listen and vote her up, boys.
Dark Star
Jan. 2, 1970
Fillmore East (Late Show)

No doubt about it, 1970 kicks off with a massive massive heady Star, folks. This, as mentioned above, is well under-rated. It's got deep creepy far out lose-yer-mind predatory space craters followed by back-to-your body feather-light elegant whispers, and then there's that brilliant Tighten Up jam. Could go much higher on the list.
Uncle John's Band
Jan. 2, 1970
Fillmore East (Late Show)

Everything you look for in an early UJB, right here.
The Other One
Jan. 2, 1970
Fillmore East (Late Show)

Something succinct about these comments, demonstrating just what a high standard they were playing at this pivotal new year's juncture. In short: this one rocks hard. Great transition from the Cryptical reprise into a sweet Cosmic Charlie too.

Thanks Modernhead 1995, looking forward to it. Cheers.
