Born Cross Eyed
Feb. 3, 1968
Crystal Ballroom
Wild and scrambled with lots of hooting and yelping. Lots of scary fun on this rare gem folks, with a Spanishy jam at the end.

China Cat Sunflower
Feb. 3, 1968
Crystal Ballroom
Killer power bridging Dark Star into an atomic The Eleven. Not kidding, but all the early ones belong up here to spread more heads into '68 Dead.

Not Fade Away
Feb. 11, 1970
Fillmore East
High-energy and very tight. Opens (?) an immortal show with a big bang. Great clear sound quality, too.

The Other One
Feb. 11, 1970
Fillmore East
Super-charged, but unfortunately incomplete. From the era when TOO took over from Cryptical, but this reprise has surprising power: PHIL.

Cold Rain and Snow
Dec. 28, 1969
International Speedway
Explosive and uptempo with a high-pressure energy that blows the tubes.

The Other One
Nov. 17, 1972
Century II Convention Hall
Not your old granny's The Other One - unless of course your old granny was that hot lady with the clean sunshine hanging out with the tapers.... Seriously though this is hot psychedelia that goes through all the phases, but doesn't have the hard metal edge of some from the era. Far far out, but never pushes you over the edge. A great show of their control and chaos, followed by a sublime Brokedown.
He's Gone
Nov. 17, 1972
Century II Convention Hall
They're breathing as one, and this has some gorgeous, subtle interplay. Just perfect.
Truckin'
Nov. 17, 1972
Century II Convention Hall
A few moments about a minute before they change time signatures into 6/8 for the TOO shift and it sounds almost like a Nobody's Fault But Mine jam - not quite, but just enough of Phil/Jerry interplay to suggest it was in the air.
Cumberland Blues
Nov. 17, 1972
Century II Convention Hall
No question, this one has a little extra chili pepper in it.
Sugaree
Feb. 28, 1973
Salt Palace
Simply on fire. Brilliant.
