Brilliant vocals. Jerry stretches it out. Funky, sexed up version.

Less reggae than the Spring '73 versions, this one is fully rockin'. Jer's on, both with vocals and solos.

The Other One

A must-hear. Goes through four or five melodic/rhythmic innovations, odd time sigs and a MLBesque jam outro. Avoid Lai's version with a nasty cut.

Stunning w/ great Phil solo into TOO. A 2nd set from heaven: LIG>He's Gone>Truckin>TOO>Wharf Rat. Don't be put off by 1st set flubs, listen to this!

Playin' In The Band

Subtle, simmering, with slow, steady intensity. To my ears this show has mix issues and needs re-work - but definitely worth it.

Makes you wonder how it was knowing that the Who were on next at this show. Seems like they were driven with intensity and purpose throughout the show, maybe a kind of musical assertiveness: "You come to our turf... top that!" kind of friendly competition. Jerry also jokes in an interview at one point about how The Who were a tough act to follow at Woodstock.

Absolutely in agreement. With DP33 repackaging this show there should be a lot more attention to it! This one is just perfect, and the whole show has outrageous energy.

Sizzling and crisp, up tempo, with great vox and back up from Bobby and Donna Jean. Yep, this is a big thumbs up.

Nonoyolker's perfect comment. From note one this showcases the no-note out of place pristine musicianship that some are characterising as the '77 sound. Great high energy show here.

They just got better and better from the new debut in July, and this one tops the year (so far). Ballsy, full of swagger, lots of stank nasty on Bobby's snarl. Heaps of fun.
