A Dew rec brought me to this show - the Estimated made me want to talk about it

Probably my favorite versions with Bruce and that's saying a lot.

The bass and drums are practically absent on recording but Jerry/Brent/Bobby really sound great during jams. Any '82 Shakedowns are a B at worst

12/16/78 Lite. Typical tight late '78 version with whistling Bobby and all.

Bobby's guitar is always as fun to listen to as Jerry's! Bobby will even tell you that ;)

St. Paul Civic Center Arena

This one reminds me of 5/13/78 Spectrum The early part of the jam is kind of a mess but the ending is very pleasing

Wharf Rat
Oct. 24, 1979
Springfield Civic Center Arena

On 10/24/79 The Grateful Dead declared themselves royalty to the city of Springfield. The contract was filled with a bunch of legal terms but the message WHARF RAT: THE RELENTLESS RALLY CRY THAT WILL STRIKE DOWN ON ANYONE WHO WISH TO COMMIT HERESY BY ATTEMPTING OVERTHROW THE REGAL ROCKERS was written loud and proud on the document's front page About ten years later these 4 fingered yellow people showed up, laughed and turned the speakers down. GD had helluva run!
