Candyman
Nov. 6, 1970
Capitol Theater
This really nice early Candy Man. This one is after Truckin. The first two are sound checks, I think.

Uncle John's Band
Nov. 6, 1970
Capitol Theater
This is one of the better acoustic versions of this song. The sound quality isn't the best but the performance is spot on.

Loser
Nov. 15, 1971
The Austin Municipal Auditorium
This is a tragically overlooked version. Bobby's guitar is loud and proud. Jerry's Strat playing was as clean and twangy as it got on this song.

China Cat Sunflower -> I Know You Rider
Nov. 7, 1969
Fillmore Auditorium
The forth live performance of these 2 songs put together. It starts out a little rough, then it evolves into a well paced and played China Rider.

Not Fade Away
Feb. 13, 1970
Fillmore East
This isn't on the Archive link. I found it on the Archive app on the Soundboard, Charlie Miller. Soundboard, David Gans or Soundboard, Jay Searafin, Patrick Murphy recordings. None of these are marked Late or Early and they don't correspond with either of those recordings on the site. It's confusing, because it's so good that some one would have to have submited this version.
Hard to Handle
Feb. 13, 1970
Fillmore East
Really? This only has 3 votes. Bobby's rhythm playing is enough to command a much higher vote. Bobby was way up in the mix, which really showcases his incredible playing. Jerry plays this with a gleeful energy; being at the Fillmore east of course.
Black Peter
Feb. 13, 1970
Fillmore East
They played this one with that good old Fillmore East energy. Bobby was putting down some really nice rhythm guitar complementing Jerry's simple but expressive lead work. Very nice.
I Know You Rider
May 1, 1970
Alfred College
Other then missing the vocal on the 2nd verse, this Rider is every bit as good as the Harpur College version. The guitars sound fuller, better played and recorded better, at least the recording thaI heard. Jerry was getting an authentic " High - Lonesome" vocal sound on this one. Bobby's guitar playing complimented Jerry's very well. This, being the night before the Harpur show, which had the same acoustic set; with a short Candy Man.
I Know You Rider
May 2, 1970
Harpur College
Me too, Dark Star 67. This was a unique era for this song. After the rollicking early versions and before the China - Rider era.
