Ramble On Rose

This is a clear and well delivered version of this song. Jerry's vocals are strong and Keith is adding some very nice honky-tonk piano!

The Music Box

Very solid bluesy show opener for what whould soon be a psychadelic explosion. Jerry's Gibson tone permiates your bones.

This is pure 69 psychadelic energy, at it's very best!

Crisp, clean and energetic. Bobby's guitar is up in the mix, and it was about 8 months before Keith's piano would step on his complex rythm work!

This is another example of the fantastic, energetic, psyhadelic magic that the boys got, post Mickey and pre Keith!

Not Fade Away
Nov. 15, 1971
The Austin Municipal Auditorium

This is the best played version of this song, for my money anyway. Bobby's playing is at a top level here. He starts playing around with the Cina Cat theme towards the end of the song, Jerry picks up on that. What follows is a wondrous Jam, "Kitchen Sink" as DS67 describes it. Then their on to DTRFB, then a reprise of NFA. Must listen to material here!

The quality of Bobby's rythum playing on this song, as well as the entire show, can not be over emphasized. Jerry's at his Strat pickin best here. And, a newly initiated, Keith, is playing some classic country piano on this one.

This is a clean, snappy version. Keith was only a few weeks in, but contributing some nice honky tonk inspired piano. The mix is good on this one. Bobby' guitar is quite audible, which was not the case in the later years when Keths piano overpowered Bobby's rhythm playing.
Dark Star

Capitol Theatre

^^By May and June of 1970, Jerry was back on the SG. That explains that wonderful "ringing tone", as Grendal describes it.

This one deserves serious exploration. This was Jerry's early 69, Strat phase; before switching back to the SG. Good playing by all on this one.
