Felt Forum - Madison Square Garden

Pig comes alive during this song as well as this entire show, and Jerry respond's to his energy level, as does the whole band. I love this show!

This is a high energy and very well played version of this song. Bobby is in very good form here.

The Other One
April 5, 1969
Avalon Ballroom

There was something just right about their Avalon shows. Probably a combination of the acoustics of that room and an altered state of consciousness, shared by all. This is a good example of that confluence.
Greatest Story Ever Told
Feb. 17, 1979
Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum

I agree, This is a high energy version. Jerry's on fire on this one and Bobby's rhythm work is stellar. Also this is a historically significant show. This was Keith and Donna's last show and the first time that they had played this song in almost 5 years. I think this one deserves a listen.
Stella Blue
June 18, 1974
Freedom Hall

This song, more then almost any Hunter - Garcia ballad, is really subject to how much genuine emotion Jerry is delivering in any given version. When it really works, you can hear the existential pain in his voice and in his guitar playing. This one really delivers both. I prefer the extended lead codas that jerry played in 76 and after, but this is still one of my favorite versions.
Samson and Delilah
Sept. 23, 1976
Cameron Indoor Stadium, Duke U

About 2 minutes into this, the quality improves a lot. This is a good energetic version. Good vocals by Bobby and Donna, and Keith was providing some very nice gospel style piano work on this one.
Hard to Handle
March 24, 1971
Winterland Arena

It would be hard to find a better version of this song, in my opinion!
