All Along the Watchtower
Sept. 18, 1987
Madison Square Garden
Love the energy after drums in this second set. My only complaint here is that Bobby starts singing the first verse early.
La Bamba
Sept. 18, 1987
Madison Square Garden
Love this show for this bit. Yes, the 30 Trips box set is nice, but I still prefer the Tobin matrix - check out SHNID 134455. The extra AUD gives the whole package that extra special kick.
Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain
Oct. 30, 1984
Berkeley Community Theater
Absolutely underrated — this version has wings. For the full effect, skip the soundboard and go for one of the audience recordings.
That's All Right
June 10, 1973
RFK Stadium
The extended soloing on this one is incredible. True, though, it sounds more like an Allman Brothers song than a Dead song. No complaints here, though.
It Takes A Lot To Laugh, It Takes A Train To Cry
June 10, 1973
RFK Stadium
Personally, I think this version beats out all the Jerry Garcia Band versions. Simply fantastic.
