Hell in a Bucket
Sept. 21, 1993
Madison Square Garden

Pure power. Phil drives things as he did this entire MSG run. Jerry's guitar sound is caustic.

Samson and Delilah
Sept. 20, 1993
Madison Square Garden

Jer is showing off his new guitar and that raw sound it can make. Upbeat night with the boys clearly anticipating Edie's visit.

Alpine Valley Music Theatre

Rowdy version. Bobby's singing was very animated this Alpine run.

Sylvanriv, perhaps you don’t see others being critical of 7/17/89 because they’re not? I mean, “overrated” compared to what? Agree that the fact that Phil and Jerry decided it was good enough a show to make it a video release does impact the popularity of it, but they could have picked any other show to release, but chose it. May want to recalibrate your views about it and join in the fun. It’s a wonderful, 5-star show, in my opinion. Enjoy!

I know this is sort of implied but how fucking genius do you have to be to create this music? Mind-boggling.
Viola Lee Blues

Winterland Arena

It’s an innocent comment, but the one right above this made me chuckle. I listened to this 1967 recording and did not flinch for a moment on the quality. Matter of fact, I like it just how it is. Garcia is earning his keep here, especially if the pay consists of purple microdots.
Just A Little Light

Civic Center

Deep in the heart of a fantastic, 10 song first set comes this funk. Very groovy version.

“Did Donna ever sound better than Summer ‘76?” Fall ‘93? :)-
