Johnny B. Goode
Dec. 31, 1990
Coliseum Arena

I loved the Horsby era and here is is again sounding fine. The only JBG of 1990 closes out a year of revival and rebirth for the Dead.
Goin' Down The Road Feelin' Bad
May 25, 1993
Cal Expo

Jerry's diminished skills are showing. Nice solo work by Vince, who also makes the opening quite interesting.
Goin' Down The Road Feelin' Bad

Riverport Amphitheater

First the positives - the band is able to maintain a solid boogie throughout. Vince, Phil and the drummers do their best. Jerry's vocals aren't all that bad, but his guitar work is terrible. On two of his instrumental breaks, he has to be bailed out by Vince. The third is almost passable, but not on the level of Jerry Garcia. Just when you think he's going to nail the We Bid You Goodnight finale, he blows that one too. This is really depressing to listen to, but given it's the last one, maybe you want to give it a listen.
Hey Pocky Way
Feb. 7, 1989
Henry J. Kaiser Convention Center

The whole band is into it. Great song from Brent. Phil fans should give it a listen.
Dark Star

I have a video somewhere of a Parliament concert in the 70's, where after about two and a half hours of the weirdest funk you could see and hear - including a man in a diaper smoking a joint - they turned the house lights on and there was one guy on the floor. I wonder how many people were left this night in Cleveland when they turned the house lights on.
