Perfect execution, akin to the Europe '72 version in terms of precision, Kreutzzman is all over the kit. Fiery Garcia licks reaching incredible peaks

Oh my, the band interplay is absolutely top notch and so mature. Ultimate boogie-gusto, Jerry givin' his all and singin' with soul. Great shit.

This blew my mind at the movies, the vocal jam at the end was insane on the big screen

Bird Song
Oct. 2, 1972
Springfield Civic Center

Absolutely wonderful melodies and inspired playing. Carrion Crow is right, and I think that can be applied to most listening on this site, headphones and/or a great sound system is required to really be able to "hear" through the wonderful world of the Grateful Dead and all the layers of music that it brings along with it. I find that with tremendously layered music, such as the Dead, adding headphones into the mix is formula for having 'yer mind blown. Great Bird Song. Great recommendation. Soaring. On a bird song kick right now, this is so inspired. Keith's runs supplying wonderful ambience.

Soaring and building, flying on and on. Beautiful melodies from Jerry that cascade like waterfalls of sound in counterpoint to the incredibly ambient fills from Keith's piano. This is a classic example of a sub-par recording of an absolutely amazing version that flys under the radar big time. This cascades, like following a river from it's original source, cutting through the mountains and a canyon, and coming to a calm meadow stream. Incredible drumming by Billy K. His jazzy-rhythms and incredible cymbal playing and rolls provide lots of counter-points for Weir and Phil. This is a wonderful group effort and an amazing display of musicianship.

Numero uno for me.
Playin' In The Band

Just watched the full 18+ minute video on YouTube of this version. Incredible modal improvising. Spacey and there is some wonderful ebbing and flowing of jazz ideas, weaving in and out of order/disorder. Sometimes threading the needle between both. This is real good stuff.
