Sugar Magnolia

Fox Theatre

This is a great sleeper; a hidden gem. Bobby sings it so well, and is, like, on key and stuff! High energy taboot. Gotta check it out!!!

Ain't It Crazy (The Rub)

Fillmore East (Late Show)

This is a fun version and Pig is killin' it. Some great Jerry banter immediately after the tune ends... But that's not why I submitted it. Solid!

Mountains of the Moon
Feb. 11, 1969
Fillmore East

As much as I love the entire Fillmore run, I think this version surpasses those in execution and vocal performance. Jerry sounds great!

best of '77. (also the shortest.) near-perfect execution, perfectly lazy groove, great vocals. what more do you need?

DarkStar is tuned in. silky-smooth. should be at the top...
Shakedown Street

my personal favorite. TIGHT, funky, solid vocals... it's all right here. good call, mrgrey!
Truckin'
May 19, 1974
Portland Memorial Coliseum

i've been listening for over 20 years, and this is the only version of truckin' i've heard that has it all- creative jamming, solid groove, and even great vocals! this is one of the harder songs for them to pull off vocally- it's about as good as it gets in that respect. my personal favorite.
Mississippi Halfstep Uptown Toodeloo
Sept. 3, 1977
Raceway Park

i know i'm probably crazy, but this englishtown show never did it for me. there is a massive amount of loud, powerful energy... but to these ears, it's achieved at the sacrifice of tightness and intimacy... but maybe that's it's appeal..? this show had like eight million people in attendance, and i think they were overwhelmed a bit by it. it's a fun show, but nowhere near the top of my list. listen to this 1/2 step and 5/12/77 back-to-back once, and tell me if you hear what i'm saying...
