birth of the dead version - tight! vocals are decent, too.

China Cat Sunflower -> I Know You Rider
June 26, 1974
Providence Civic Center

locked in. that's all i can say. a lazy, greazy, 20 min groove. my personal favorite. EDIT: Ok, it's been a few months since I posted the above comment, and I'd like to say that I officially have a new favorite. Please, PLEASE check out the performance from 12/12/80. I came across the show by sheer luck, and my jaw dropped when I heard this one. It's absolutely perfect.
Jack Straw
Jan. 11, 1979
Nassau Coliseum

checked this out because is was tied for #1. nice guitar work, but the vocals are HORRENDOUS! how is this ranked at the top? There has to be at least one version that matches this energy and ~also~ has decent vocals. I'm sure there are better versions out there... I better start digging!
Morning Dew
Sept. 18, 1987
Madison Square Garden

that note jerry hammers near the end of the last solo gives me chills every time. everything comes together in this one!
Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain
April 23, 1977
Springfield Civic Center

personally, i prefer this one over cornell!
Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain
May 8, 1977
Barton Hall - Cornell University

i am not all that surprised that this one is at the top of the list, but i believe there are better versions out there, even in '77. Check out 4/23/77, or better yet, 10/2/77. i believe the execution on the two i mentioned are better/tighter than cornell. this is still a very good one, though.
